What is the deal with "Xceptation".

I hate to ask questions that I'm sure have been answered a million times already but I've been looking on the board and was just wodering what was "Xcepation". Was it an album or just one song? Was it a download that was available via NPGMC or was it an offical album released through NPGMC that users got for fee? Where can I get whatever it is was and is it worth getting at all? Thanks in advance.

It was an MP3 album of about 9 (i think it was 9) instrumentals. It was for NPGMC02 members and was made avalible at midnight 01/01/2003.

It's a lovely album. It was suposed to be Xenophobia, but as that track was removed they changed it to Xpectations.

XPECTATION was an album made available for download for members of the 2002 NPG Music Club on 1/1/03. It was an album of instrumentals featuring Prince, Candy Dulfer, Vanessa Mae, John Blackwell & Rhonda Smith, and had the following tracklisting...

1. Xhalation
2. Xcogitate
3. Xemplify
4. Xpectation
5. Xotica
6. Xogenous
7. Xpand
8. Xosphere
9. Xpedition

It was originally entitled XENOPHOBIA and featured the studio version of that track as the opener before progressing with the tracks in the same order as listed above. Before release Prince (for whatever reason) removed Xenophobia from the album and retitled it XPECTATION.

XPECTATION will also be made available as a CD for purchase in the retail section of the NPG Music Club in the near future.

The track list should be on my NPGMC music page
There appear to be several errors on that page - some examples:

Ahdio Show #2

'Welcome 2 The Slaughterhouse' is called 'Silicon'
'Instrumental - Blackwell' is actually 'Pop Life' outro performed by Prince and the NPG.

Ahdio Show #3

'Sex Me Baby' is called 'Sex Me Sex Me Not' (as correctly identified in June)
The 'Larry Graham bass solo' is 'Eye'magettin''

Ahdio Show #7

'Judas Kiss' was changed to 'Judas Smile'

Ahdio Show #8

'Love... Thy Will Be Done' - This is the 'Prince Mix' - an instrumental edit of the Martika release - not Ingrid Chavez.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Really? He'll probably put a "bonus" track on there so everyone who already downloaded it will buy another copy! (And I'll probably be the first sucker to do it!)

dancing jig But I won't hold my breath.

I hope so though, sound-wise mp3's don't cut it for me.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting a proper CD version of it too. Partially for the better quality and partially for the fact that it'll have a proper booklet etc. I've been reliably informed that the NPGMC are planning to make it available sometime in the next 2 months (so I expect that'll mean last thing in August).

huggy

"Xpectations" was supposed to have been called "Xenophobia" and released on CD to members as part of year 2 before year 2 ended.

However, since Prince likes to fuck with people's minds he thought that every fan had to pay for all the whiners whining and he changed the title to Xpectations, ended the cd with a baby crying, released it on MP3 instead of CD, charged the same price, released it AFTER the year was over and screwed his fans over again.
