Sly & the Family Stone re-united without Larry

Just read this on CNN.com:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/S...index.html

"The band played at the 1968 Fillmore East concert, the 1969 Woodstock festival, and it was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

The seeds of reunion were planted 18 months ago after the Family Stone gathered in New York to accept an R&B Foundation Pioneer Award.

"Everybody was there but Sly," said Errico. "We (wondered), 'Are we going to...put the group back together?' Everybody decided to do it. We waited for (guitarist) Larry (Graham) for about three or four months. After saying, yeah, he wanted to do it, he never responded."

Undaunted by the absence not only of Sly but also of his cousin Graham on bass guitar, five of the original members of Sly and the Family Stone have been in the studio recording some 16 new songs.

It's not gonna work. This project is dead on arrival. No Sly and Larry? That would be like Earth Wind and Fire without Maurice White and Philip Bailey,or the Beatles without Paul and John.

Well, if we all know our funk history, Sly & Larry never got along. Sly even put out a hit on Larry. Larry was checking under the hood of his car daily for bombs!
So is it any wonder they're not 2gether on this project???

It would be so cool to see Sly.

Most younger people have never even heard of Sly & The Family Stone.

Sometimes I can't help feeling that in ten or twenty years time there aren't gonna be many young people who've heard of Prince.

Sadly, it's like that where I live too. sigh

I mean, if you don't like him, that's one thing. But not knowing who he is? He's like, a living legend! I don't understand how so many people my age don't know who he is! Especially when a lot of the musicians/singers/artists they listen to can't seem to shut up about how great he is!

Wouldn't you think at least one or two Eminem/R.Kelly/BSB/Missy Elliot/etc., etc. fans wouldv'e heard his name mentioned and been curious as to who he is?

Or what about all the random pop culture references in movies/TV/music directed at young people?

For example:

TV:
The Simpsons
MadTV

Movies:
"Can't Hardly Wait"
"Scary Movie"

Music:
too many songs to mention.

So how can you not have heard of the Purple One?
"A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
