Alexander O' Neil was sposed to be in the Time????

I was watching uk show 'this morning' & Mr O neil was on it & talked about working with Prince. Apparently, they fell out because O Neil was sposed to front a band called the Time but was replaced by Morris Day

Anyone have anymore info??

It's true. There's only speculation as to what happened. Egos or substance abuse are 2 theories as to why the lineup change.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I remember years ago Rolling Stone magazine had an interview with Alexander and he stated that he was supposed to be the singer in The Time but he stated that he didn't get along with Prince because if he wanted to smoke a joint before hitting the stage then he would do it and Prince didn't want that type of behavior in his camp so Morris Day was bumped up from the drummer to the singer spot!!

I remember back in the day, that Alexander O'neal said that Prince approached him about being the Front man in The Time. Alexander said he then asked Prince how much Money would he be paid, and Prince said, Nevermind. And put Morris Day in front. Prince even used the name Alexander Nevermind as one of his fake names on somebodies Record, can't remember who's.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

Alexander O'Neil is a cat out of Minneapolis who really blew up after Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis created their sound with The S.O.S. Band, Janet Jackson, Cherelle, etc. during the early to mid-1980s. He's probably one of the first artists to have Jam and Lewis produce his entire albums. He made songs such as "Never Knew Love Like This", "Fake", "Sunshine", and "Innocent." Hope this helps.

In the re-release of Alex's first cd, Alex mentions working with Prince. He states something like if Prince wanted me at one time, I most be one bad mother fucker.

Yes I think you're right but I think the diffrence was that Morris got high behind closed doors or before he got to the gig and Alexander did it wherever and whenever he felt like doing it!!!
