Prince songs played for 1 hour on 98.7

Prince songs were played for an hour on 98.7 here in NYC to celebrate his birthday. It was nice to actually here him on the radio for that long. It's pathetic that I actually get excited over something like this, but you just never hear his music played except for the same 2 or 3 songs from 1984. Just thought I would let you know that at least 1 radion station did indeed acknowledge his birthday!!!

I always tend 2 get excited whenever he comes on the radio...dunno why really neutral
Not like I haven't heard the songs before, it's just that he's so rarely on the radio that I see it as a big thing whenever they play him on there.

I heard him twice on the radio twice in the UK this week. When Doves Cry on Virgin and Diamonds and Pearls in a shop, so I don't know the station.

Last week I also went to a quiz night and in the music round they play some songs and you get a point for the artist and a point for the title. One of the tunes was When Doves Cry. I was writing the answer on about the 2nd note played!
RIP sad

It's not silly to get excited over it,I'm excited hearing about it!
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

That's not silly. hell, I got excited when I heard 'Kiss' played on the radio on his birthday. I wish my radio station would dedicate an entire hour to him...

I could care less about the radio now. On his 45th birthday I just popped in his greatest work to date, "Sign O' the Times". An absolute classic.

I'm just the opposite.
They play him so infrequently on the radio, I get scared that after the song is done playing, they're going to announce that he passed away.
Newsflash: I'm a pessimist.

I missed it! I missed it!! I missed it!!!bawl(stompin' feet), Oh well, I guess I'll just play it all on CD. I'm sure they played everything that we all have. Was it the Hot Lunch Cafe that played it?

I don't think WBAI did their Prince tribute this year though.

Yes it was the Hot Lunch Cafe that played it. I only caught the beginning because I was on my way to the gym on my lunch hour. The funny thing is, I was actually considering sitting in my car and listening to it!!! (not like I haven't heard his songs a million times before).
XTRUEX I totally agree with you. Once I heard them play a bunch of songs out of no where and was totally convinced that bad news was coming at the end of the songs!!! I was getting totally stressed out!!! I guess we need to relax a bit.

haha...i think the same thing but only if its two or more songs in a row. quite a few radio stations in my former city used to do blocks for no particular reason. sometimes i would worry!
