Hmmm, maybe I'll give this one a listen tonight. I've always thought it was fun and cartoony, but it's just such a novelty song - nothing wrong with that, of course, it's just not what Prince should be remembered for. I'm not surprised it wasn't on The Hits, and now I'm glad, because while all the other songs on there are, to a certain extent, ageless (even if a little dated), Batdance is clearly a song from a certain time. In other words, I like the song (it was, after all, the first song which had me pick up a Prince album), and I would definitely not want it to win for 1989. | |
