it must be frustrating to Prince fans that Prince has two sides. On one hand he is a pop innovator/maverick and on the other he is has written some cheesy stuff like (he says) 1999. Don't worry, I had to correct him on that one.
I said yes it is frustrating becuz Prince has proved time and time again that he is extremely talented. Then again he has also proven that he is capable of making awful choices like NPS and RU2TJF. I had to tell him that even Bob Dylan once said that every now and then he has to write something simple just to get over.
Anyway the point is, yes it is frustrating especially since Prince fans always want so much from Prince. Sometimes it's not his fault. For Example, I am not looking forward to anymore instrumental albums. I want to hear him sing his heart out. i think that's where his true strength lies: his voice.

Milty you just expressed your opinion... The albums you mentioned are not crap to me but you are right I consider some of his material very cheesy at times. We don't have to love all his stuff... Besides he is a genius or (to avoid extreme words) a very gifted musician and like all talented people he is able to do the best and (it's all relative) the worst... The man is searching... the same for artists like Spielberg...
