funny, but they've been in the running for being #1 at the bank... (something prince is obsessed with... even to the point of charging his remaining fanbase tickets upwards of $150, after charging $100 for a membership fee for access to those $150 tickets... then charging them another $250 to come hang out at paisley...)

yeah, he's not interested in money... or being #1 at the bank... or on the charts... lol

(not that there's anything wrong with that... i know i've done my part to put him where he belongs... wait... that didn't come out right... lol )

yeah, my profile shows much hatred for prince.

i believe it's your assumptions of other orgers, and constant "sticking up for" prince that other orgers are getting tired of.

how about starting your own thread. or do you not have anything to add to this site other than your attacks on other people?

that's what i thought.

---

Well, I get a lot of org notes about you and people like you. I think there are a lot of orgers that are tired of the negativity you generate.

However, it is a free country and you have a right to your opinion. I just do not think your humor is funny and may be based on hard feelings concerning the lawsuit.

You did not address my response concerning Prince's lack of success on the charts. I made some valid points.
Maybe Prince has found away to make a living, sell the amount of records he wants to sell and is happy with the outcome. Is it really so hard to believe that having a hit record is not that important to him. After, all he has had hit records before and he is at a age were the hits slow down. The music industry is youth oriented. I think he is happy to sit on his ass and collect royalty checks and run his business as he sees fit. Please realize that if he does not care why should you.

By the why I send stuff in about corrupt music industry practices to make a point that everything Prince has said about the industry is not crap. However, the moderators do not seem interested in posting this stuff.

Well Chicken Little those guys are different. Only Prince is supposed to have hits forever. It is o.k for everyone else in music to have a hot streak come to an end. Prince is supposed to be super human. (LOL)

don't you mean suggestions from moderators to chill with the unnecessary tone in your responses to other orgers who are critical of prince? maybe you're blind, but i am not the only one who is critical... and it doesn't matter... prince's track record over the last 9½ years just goes to show that this is what happens to an artist who alienates everyone around him with the decisions he makes... and continues to watch his legacy decline because all he does is surround himself with yes people... YES SIR, this is the best music you've ever put out... YES SIR, this is the way to make money now that you are unable to write a hit song anymore... etc...

maybe you are blind or something... you continue to bring up the lawsuit as a reason for my continuing to be critical of him. what you obviously do not remember is that i was critical of the same things that i am now, long before the lawsuit... and all i've done since then (regarding the lawsuit) is thank him for the publicity it generated for freemyheart.com... who paid for the lawsuit? prince... both monetarily (lawyers fees) and in the press... did it go to court? no. did i benefit from it monetarily in anyway whatsoever? no. otherwise, prince would've had a case and would've continued. basically what it comes down to is that he realized that the press (mtv, cnn, the internet) was revealing to everyone what he was... a control freak who wants control over every aspect of his career, including how his fans support him. even the artist that freemyheart.com is dedicated to (who is probably the biggest prince fan out there) came to my defense in the press.

so for the last time... stop assuming things. you've no idea how happy i was to see freemyheart.com listed on yahoo's front page on a sunday morning where freemyheart generated over 7,000 hits that morning alone because of the publicity... 350,000 hits since then. do i get paid for those hits? no. i don't have banners up on that site. no trick popups. never have, never will. it's a site i created in honor of an artist worthy of my time and energy.

as finess, chocolate, and other longtime users of the online prince community can attest, once upon a time i had a site dedicated to prince. but when he began his sue-tirade against uptown and the prince family newsletter, i and many other prince sites stopped promoting him by taking down our websites. he doesn't deserve the time it takes to create a site. i applaud ben, ian, lavish and the rest of the org staff... as well as uptown for sticking through it. the site i created for prince (which was listed in prince's list of favorite websites in a 1997 interview with yahoo magazine is no longer up... nor will it ever be put back up.

laurarichardson said:

that's because your response was laughable... for someone who's repeatedly been quoted in the press about how he's #1 at the bank, how he wants to be #1 at the bank, etc... for him these days it is all about money... $100 for a npgmc membership (only $25 this year, but that's just to get in the door... then, only if you've paid that $100 membership fee, you have access to the best seats at my concerts... those are $125-$150... oh, and if you want, you can come to paisley for another $250, but again, only if you paid that $100 membership fee, otherwise it's $100 per night... not important for prince to be #1 at the bank? explain then, after all that, prince was charging folks $5 for a picture of them on his graffiti bridge motorcycle?

that's what he's doing to his dwindling fanbase. lies about exclusive merchandise that ends up being released in retail stores within weeks. 60MB mp3 downloads of previously released material... which we can get for free (and better) in one of finess' dj shows... etc.

he doesn't want a hit? then please, once you've gotten over your denial about that, please, dear god, explain "1999: the new master". explain then the multiple tv appearances to promote "newpower soul"... explain his going on mtv's "total request live" to promote "rave un2 the joy fantastic" which was his pitiful attempt to do what santana's album did... load it up with pop stars and maybe you'll have a bunch of hits...

you don't like my sense of humor? you're not the first.

you don't like my being critical of prince? you don't understand how i still support princ...tastic" cd through the npgmc retail site with my credit card while he is suing me? how do i (and others) on this website have the brain capacity to separate the decisions that have decimated his career, from the music? i can't explain that to you someone who thinks prince is perfect and has no faults. it's worse than talking to a wall. that's why i (and others) do not respond to you some of the things you have to say.

No I do not mean responses that I receive from the moderators. I have only received two the entire time I have been coming to this site. A lot of people on this site are adults who do not wig out when their ideas are criticized. I have received org notes about you and they were not filled with heaps of praise.

I am not blind to the criticism that other orgers have about Prince. However, your criticism is bordering on obsessive.
Ever post you put on this board is some slam at Prince, the music club or just some odd joke that falls flat.
As far as Prince alienating everyone. He has never alienated me because I do not know him personally. You go on about Prince like you have a personal relationship with him. Don’t you think that is a little strange that you are worried about Prince alienatating his fan base and having yes people around him. It is dude’s life and business not yours.

Do you really think Prince puts out music because some yes man likes it? Don’t you know that there were several times Prince persisted in having certain songs released that WB was totally against. Are you going to say that WB was filled with yes men? Prince does what he wants when he wants. He often suffers the consequences of his actions. However, that is his choice and cannot possibly have any bearing on your life.

If you think Prince cares about the media at this point in his career you are overestimating your importance.
I think the press, the music industry and fans all know that Prince is a control freak. The lawsuit did ‘t tell anybody anything they did not know already. I think he filled the suit to scare you and probably had no intention of going to court with the case.

Prince made that comment back in 1996. When are you going to let it go? In addition, what is the problem with wanting to make a profit off of his work. I never said Prince did not care about making money. I said he cannot be pressed about a hit record because of his actions over the last few years. This does not mean he does not want to make a living. An artist can make more money on the road then from selling cd’s.

Let me provide you with a little information concerning economics. It is called supply and demand. If there was no demand for the products, events and services Prince was offering he would not charge the prices that he does. People keep paying the high prices and he keeps charging. I went to see Prince in March of 2002. I expected the 3,000.00 seat theater to be half-filled. Well, the tickets sold out in less than 15 minutes and two additional shows were added. The tickets went from $50.00 to $100.00. If people were not going out and buying these tickets he would be not get away with charging the high prices. You are at angry at Prince for competing in a market that will allow a $100.00 ticket price but, your not angry at Madonna, Rolling Stones, or a dozen other acts for charging the same or high prices.

I don’t belong to the music club because I think it is too expensive and I never pay more than $50.00 bucks to see anybody in concert. I just do what is best for me financially and I manage to do it without coming to Prince org and ranting about it for over three years.

All of his promotional appearances concerning RAVE were probably due to contractual obligations he had with Arista. I think Prince wants people to hear his music but, you do not realize the cost involved with videos and the amount of money record companies spend paying radio stations to play records. I am going to guess that he had no choice but, to promote the record so Arista would have some chance of selling the record.

Don’t you think that the new master was put out to try and beat WB ,since they re-released 1999.

The odd thing is when Prince does what he supposed to be doing he gets attacked by people like you. When he is reclusive he gets attacked by the industry for being stubborn and uncooperative.

I do not understand they why you keep going on and on about the same topics. You have a right to be critical of anything you want to be critical of but, try to be rational about it.

Well, I do not think everything Prince does is perfect and I do have the brain capacity to separate the music from the man. It is not that hard. Listen to the music enjoy it and go on with your life. Anyone who cannot do this may have other unresolved issues.

Do U think while Brit and Justin couldn't have sex (Yeah right?) they used to spend all night tucked up in bed listening to Prince records. Britney liked Nasty girl, and Justin liked Camille stuff and Emancipation.

I could give a shit less if Britney and Justin didn't have sex. Britney Spears actually said she liked the song "Nasty Girl"? She's so damn dumb she probably thought the Jets sang it. And Justin said he liked "The Camille stuff and Empancipation". Was this in an interview or something? I just find it interesting.
