I know where P got the "moors" thing....read on.......

Alright...so last night I was on my couch going to sleep...well going in and out of my sleep state I was watching "Black Knight" - Martin Lawrence.

And...I figured it out...the movie is based around the "moor" helping the former queen get her kingdom back...I don't know if its based in Spain...but reading Prince's thoughts reminded me of this movie...

So you are saying..."Thats corny of Prince to use a movie like that make a statement.."..well there are two instances of Sly and The Family Stones tunes used (Larry)...lol so maybe P has a sense of humor and was digging the tunes...

Prince is cryptic...but if I...June19..broke the code...evillol...well I guess it gives a funny spin to such a heated subject here at the org...its just
comedy folks...go ahead...U can laugh...wink

I saw this movie. Moor is what they used to call people of African descent in medieval times.
The movie Black Knight takes place in England not in Spain. I think the piece Prince wrote called The Moors in Spain has to do with his frustration about the contributions of African people not being acknowleged by western society.

Damn...c'mon now...you're really thinking that he was hipped to the Moors by watching "Black Knight"? I mean, as bad as history is taught in high school...I first read of them in a history text! And to highlight Prince's point, they got about a paragraph...if that.

The Moors were African "Conquerors" who did indeed invade Spain and Italian and ruled for a while hundreds of year ago. Supposedly, and don't quote me on this, Italians from Sicily are mixed with Moor blood

I read the play. LOL Shakespeare is rolling in his grave. Either laughing or crying, but he's rolling.
