This Bothers me too......... This issue also bothers me, not as much as people who cant accept the fact that PRINCE will not have chart success anymore. This argument that he hasnt released alot since leaving WB. Sure we all want different things (vault tracks unreleased videos etc..) but dont say he hasnt put things out, the fact is he has released more whether u dig it or not is your call.
EMANCIPATION 3cd CRYSTAL BALL 3cd THE TRUTH KAMASUTRA NEWPOWERSOUL RAVE RAVE the DVD VHS THE RAINBOW CHILDREN HIGH ( i count this because everyone has downloaded it) ONE NITE ALONE box set 3cd ONE NITE ALONE piano cd Xpectation NEWS and various CD singles at concerts during Hit N Run tours Not a bad amount of stuff in 7 years. Well like I said its all opinion, Well have our views on what is good and what is not,but at the end of the day PRINCE is the artist and the one that will do what he wants to satisfy himself. I sure as hell would not count High as a release, but in hindsight, 17 full length discs, several singles, a DVD, the downloads, plus VBOP and OF4S is quite a lot of releases in only 7 years. Quantity over quality, but hey, I'll take all I can get. Hope he moves away from the "Xpectation"/"NEWS" stuff soon.
That's NOT why I came to the party.

I would count high and perhaps another CD's worth of tracks from NPGMC year 1. It was still music released to us, just not in the form of a physical CD.
IMO, the last seven years have generally seen an improvement in Prince's music with a couple of exceptions. I'm loving everything from Rainbow Children onwards, definitely a turn for the better. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

There were a fair share of crappy Prince songs in the 80's and there were plenty of gems in the 90's. How you see it is more a reflection of you, not the music. Granted the 80's were a stronger decade in terms of innovation and energy because the man was in his early twenties and everything was new. But let's keep it all in perspective-- it was still the same man and what he lost in inspiration he gained in musicianship. Only now does he seem to be putting it all together. Unfortunately, most of us will be too busy whining to notice. :brick
