People, people...Prince already has all the material he's asking us for!!! I've posted this fact on other threads already but I want everyone to understand this.
Prince already ownes all his bootlegged CD's and unofficial stuff. I remember when he went into stores like Revolution Records in NYC and literally took all the Prince CD's, told the owner he's taking them and not paying for them, and then walked out the store. There was a major bootleg raid on a lot of stores at that time and Prince was responsible for obtaining a lot of his stuff. So all I'm saying is that he doesn't want our CD's for any other reason than to prevent us from having them. He can send his cronies to any bootleg shop around the world and get tons and tons of boots and all. He can document how much of his material is circulating out there on his own. Like I wrote before as well, it's a fucking scam. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

I made it clear that he could send his cronies to any shop and get all the evidence he needs. They can get the CD's, write down the location of the stores, and take pictures of everything. That would actually provide more proof than just saying Mike Hunt from Michigan sent me his boots. For fuck's sake. Poor SillyWhiteMale. The contents and opinions expressed by MrHappy have not been approved for publication by Prince or anyone in his employ.

While I don't totally agree with Prince's action, I have to point out two things. 1. It's a lot cheaper for to send their bootlegs to him then for him to send cronies out there. 2. Even if he did do what you suggested, that doesn't account for stores that sold the bootlegs in the past and then ran out or whatever. Then again, I think its all kind of silly, so...

I believe that Prince & his lawyers want these recordings to show that quatity of music that is stolen from Prince because Warner Bros. doesn't safeguard Prince's output. It will make a great photo opp - a huge pile of recordings - all stoled from Prince while the evil WB looks the otherway. That evil WB is not protecting Prince's recordings from bootleggers while at the same time they do this 2 for 1 combo sales that cheapens his product. Hey here's an idea - take the master recordings away from WB & give them back to Prince.

EWM has a point.Prince has all of these recordings already and I'm sure that he and his lawyers are familiar with the places that sell and distribute bootlegs.I wonder why he's not more interested in those places, who are actually selling and distributing unreleased tracks and concerts.

What other purpose would there be to have people send him their copies than just to discard them? If he needs proof for a case testimony, written or oral, would suffice. Unless he gives some valid reasons for this recall you'd have to be a brainwashed "fam" to comply. And for the record I don't own one bootlegged song-- not because I think it's wrong but because I'm no fanatic and I don't know people that have the bootlegs.
