He's not racist.

Although he seems to have done a very good job at getting the closet racists on the org to out themselves. It's all been a bit scary reading some of the posts, but that's counterbalanced by the many posters who have stood up against it.

I haven't read them all but from what i've seen in the short time i've been back in this forum i gather they are disturbing... I don't believe his racist personally- well i already described my view in one of the other threads... this is alll wayyy out of proportion nonetheless!

Yes, it is way out of proportion. But after those lyrics were published, a number of threads were started that were explicitly or implicitly racist. And many of us felt that those statements could not go unchallenged. It's getting a bit tedious, but if you let them get away with it it will poison the org, which is sad because it's such a great place.

Yes you can. The storm will pass. Good people are in the majority here. The org is a warm, loving place, this is just an aberration. Go and listen to Positivity. Come back tomorrow and hopefully everything'll be back to normal.

Very true. I've been posting to this site for years at a comfortable distance because of the ignorance, and racism. I've seen a lot come, I've seen a lot go. Now if he can just weed these clowns out of the next Celebration, maybe I'll show up. It really is holding up everybodies progress. If you need to claim the funk, you prolly aint funky at all.
They say money don't buy you luv. But it'll help w/ the search.

Better how? Explain!

He is alientating all the ignorant fools and hidden racists etc...see some of his diverity of fans play and watch Prince live..but that does not mean they are down with being open to all colors races and creeds..and the outcry and idiocy of some who are quick to get pissed at his recent "lyrics" show who these guys are ass out. So if they hate him they wont bother with him, they will cease to "fake the funk" and will drop Prince. Then we other fans wont have to deal with them..the riff-raff will have been eliminated. smile

He's fucking with a pretty thin fanbase though. He performed to some pretty small crowds on the last tour.

What next? In my local pub charging $300?

If thats the case then so fucking be it..Id rather play (befreind or what have you) to an audience of one then to a million fakers etc.

BAAAMMM! there it is.

So if you don't agree with Prince in everything he spouts, you're not deemed worthy? Even sticking with him through thick and thin for twenty-odd years?

weird philosophy.

Oh come on its not that cut and dried and you know that. Nobvody said about agreeing with everrything he said..they say when he does say sdomethings in truth then those who are ready to crucify him are tripping on their own agenda, views, boolshet, racism etc..you're either part of the problem or part of the solution lol

Yes i know that. Some folks are prone to knee-jerk reactions.I liken this to the 'Atheist at his funeral' statement the NPGMC made the other year. Some folks flew off the handle then as i recall.

What's really funny is that, ina way, he also has 'outed' some homophobes as well. Wonder if he does that on purpose? He seems real good at it.

"This town needs an enema!"

Even as crazy as the Internet can be at times, I still would’ve never guessed that this unfinished work from Prince (and a *totally* tame one at that) would’ve caused -- I mean revealed -- so much rage. I know there are a lot of people who have extremely thin skin when it comes to issues of race, but a lot of this stuff has gone way beyond that; racial paranoia might be more precise. And other behaviors suggest a need for constant coddling and placation so that one can feel that Prince the black man still loves their non-black ass. lol

Just imagine if Prince wrote something today like Parliament’s "Chocolate City"? People would be clawing each other’s eyes out up in here ("Is Prince talking about a race war? Is Prince talking about taking over the government? Does Prince wish me dead?") lol And this is a very positive song coming from the perspective of an oppressed minority in 1970’s America. But listening to some of the flag-waving ignorance here I guess this song lacks balance because it isn’t framed in the context of any negative aspect of black culture in America.

Isn’t it predictable, yet still quite disturbing, that the more comfortable Prince appears to become in his own skin, the more uncomfortable some become with Prince? Prince is an artist and a musical genius worthy of great praise to some apparently just so long as he’s dancing to the beat of their drum. Step out of line and he’s merely a faded pop star who needs to know his mother fucking place in this world.

Amongst all the screaming and gnashing of teeth did anyone notice that Prince just shared something from his previously private purple notebook? Or do you only care if it’s something that you agree with?

But I’d still like to think -- because I’m kind of crazy that way -- that amongst all of this chaos that there are people who can still change once all the emotion of the moment dies down.

Then perhaps we can agree and disagree with Prince (and any other person for that matter) in a civil and constructive way that pushes the debate forward and educates all.

But then that dream is even farther away than “Chocolate City”.

bored at the fact that this is all the 'music' prince club has to offer.... so far.

pissed <-- Org's response into the recent (half baked) ideas that go along with this site.

I really enjoy coming here sometimes, for information about his music. simply because I dont have to enter that silly silly silly club to find out music news.. If a room changes the drapes, pillows or 'moors' lyrics. it gets posted here, over a dozen times!. and I wanna thank all of you for your kindness in letting us all know, so we dont have to enter those gates smile

Im not above anyone, u misinterpreted my post.. I just find the 'moors' thing silly, and posts that came along with it.. can I not.. and who doesnt agree that every little detail on the site gets posted within minutes of it becoming availible, Im not downing anyone! it saves my poor computer time to run through an animated house for a simple update/news regarding if Prince has decided to give/sell us a song.

*"Moors of Spain" are supposed lyrics to a supposed songfrom a music club offers NO music! So is "Moors" really in the end just a statement with an agenda? Yes.

Why would an artist be devoting energy to eliminating "certain personalities" from his remaining fanbase? How idiotic!

"Things are gettin' better y'all'!": numbnuts! If Prince wrote "Hitler Had Some Good Ideas" with a funky beat, I suppose that would be cool by you!

Wake up Anji: you are so far off the deep end it's pathetic.
