The Human Body could have taken Prince to the top of the charts!

Remix that motherfucker, send it to the underground and Prince would have had the masses (and the critics) floored.

Most of the underground would have felt that record and they would have been high. Yeah, it needed remixing but the elements were there. It would have surpised people when they realised it was Prince (but in a good way) and radio would have got hold of it. Add a controversial video in the mix and Prince would have smashed the charts!

Always loved this song and wondered why so many people don't like it...it reminds me of Lords Of Acid by way of the Batman soundtrack.

Works for me.

Think about it, maxxx. It would have broken the mould, just as Sleep Around would have. Shoulda remixed those motherfuckers!

Prince was too late on both those cuts. They may have moved the "underground" six or seven years earlier, but by the time Emancipation came out, Prince had already missed that boat. "Human Body" [i]is[/1] wack. Sounds like a C+C Music Factory track.

I certainly enjoy the last half of the song, but I find the vocals a little much (though, I can be in the mood at times).

It would have just worked better, IMHO and as a "dance" fan if it had been allowed to develop as a kick-ass, instrumental dabce track. Anji's right, the elements are there - when I first heard the track I remember thinking it would be cool for Prince to just knock out a techno cd or something. But, he's only really been near that style on a few occasions; I Wanna Melt With U, Loose! and The Human Body (though, the version of Come on the Beautiful Experience could also fit neatly in this category).

I agree with this, and I think it could have been a hit, but not top of the charts.

I saw a production of the play "The Blue Room" that used a portion of "The Human Body" between scene changes. Through silhouette you could see the character snorting coke in time to the sounds of the song. Tres bien!

No, and certainly not if Prince dug deep with some hardcore house sounds and remixed the motherfucker. Hell, he could have even made it funky on a garage or drum 'n' bass tip; also have a guest female vocal (Rosie) work the remix. He just needed to rewrite his own rules for making hits again.

Same here, Prince's vocals are not quite soulful enough to have delivered it to the masses. That said, the beats would have rocked, and with production and branding efforts, it could easily have worked. Prince really needed a manager that knew the market back then!

I agree...only if you remixed it and sent it to the underground for exploitation on the dancefloor.

The ridiculousness of the name change would have been nothing compared to releasing that piece of crap as a single.

No, and he should have sent the record to the clubs with no name on it. The clubbers would have been going mad!

Liar, a cleverly inserted sample of Sexy Dancer with the heavy Prince breathing and you would have been knocking folk outta your way to get up on that dancefloor!

across the dancefloor and into the dj booth 2 proceed 2 assault the bastid behind the turntables. neither of the aforementioned songs should be played in conjunction 2 the horrible horror that is "the human body".

it'd be like servin a full-course steak dinner with milk in sippy-cups instead of champagne in champagne glasses.
