If Bart can go on unchecked with his 7 year vendetta of blind hate, then allow the precious few who have a legitimate grip against shoddy journalism to go unchecked. Weird concept aint it? but I think some people might have half a brain cell to get it. "Climb in my fur."

For all the talk about Mr. Hahn having an agenda, the same can be said for alot of other people. Even certain orgers could be considered having their own agenda. Mr. Hahn is selling a product and has the right to do so, i haven't read the book myself so i can't comment on specific points made by others. Gossip or tabloid journalism?...who's to say, who is to say that if the stories came from Prince's own mouth it would be "the truth". In the end we create our own truth, even Prince. From what i can tell, people were interviewed and made various statements that were reproduced in print. If the words came from Prince this same process would occur...and the fact it came from Prince does not make it more or less accurate. It's just another version of truth. "Waiting to be banned"

Bart clearly has his own agenda, we're not all blind to see this simple fact. But others have shown in recent weeks that they too have an agenda toward Mr. Hahn. Who is to say what is shoddy journalism or not?..it's opinion in the end. If anything, the only people who can comment on Alex Hahn as a journalist are other journalists. Anyone else is not qualified to say either way if it's tabloid fodder or not. I'll listen to Jon Bream anyday over selected orgers. "Waiting to be banned"

lord if ya have to ask then...next victim! It's shoddy...because?, well...because Alex defended UPTOWN in a lawsuit? That's seems to be the main reason given by folks, and because of this fact it automatically makes him unqualified to write about Prince? Per Nilsen is a member of UPTOWN and has written books on Prince, so that should also make him not qualified..correct? Alex wrote a different kind of book then what Per wrote, it's that simple...Per Nilsen is no more or less qualified if he decided to write the same kind of book as Alex. But i doubt Per would write a book in the same style and nature Alex did, as that is not what interests him. But just because Alex has chosen to write what he did in the manner he did does not automatically make it shoddy. It just makes it a different kind of Prince book. "Waiting to be banned"

it's shoddy because it's poorly written...
he isn't a writer... he tries to use 'flowery' phrases that don't even make sense...his attempted definitions of songs and the genre or influences of songs are waaay off base... he says prince began dressing more masculine around the time of 'diamonds and pearls?' wha? look again buddy... he credits bono's guitar playing for u2's 'unique sound..' he says 'joy in repetition' is influence by kate bush & peter gabriel? funny..it sounds like santana to me.. 'sexuality' where he declares himself a new breed leader..' huh? are we hearing the same lyrics mr. hahn? where exactly does he declare himself that? here's a nice flowery attempt at describing '1999'...'near the end, the song becomes a hedonist's anthem, as a crew of background singers chants 'party!' while prince grunts and shouts (huh?). a bass guitar abruptly hiccups it's way to the fore, and cascades (cascades?) of synthesizers add to the celebration...' 'O)+>' was...'prince's attempt to construct what he termed a 'rock soap opera..' a soap opera? i knew there were mentions of the opera..possibly even a rock opera..but soap opera? huh? it goes on & on..it's not a good book..i don't care if it was written about james dean..the way he attempts to write is just not good... and then the most obvious problem... no wendy, lisa, morris day, susannah, vanity, carmen, shiela e., albert magnoli, levi seacer, jr... um...okay...i didn't mention any lawsuit...

You won't know that until you read it! and that sort of logic says if i don't buy an O-town cd i won't know that it's crap..and if i don't see 'malibu's most wanted' i won't know that it's a crappy movie... sometimes you can just smell crap and know it's crap...

That says different things about each of them as for the reasons for declining, and we could only speculate on those reasons. Some of them will be personal, some professional, and some letigious.
