I know there were a few scenes in Purple Rain trailer which ended up on the cutting room floor, such as The Kid trading blows with his Dad, and Apollonia and Prince in the barn, but I distinctly remember seeing this one in the theaters when it was released in 1984:

The Kid and his mother are having a heartfelt talk, i think after she was brutalized by Francis L. and she says something like "You're so pretty... just like your mother"

Anyone else remember this scene, or is it just me?

Nope, can't say I remember this one. I guess the scenes left on the floor will never see the light of day.

No, there WERE scenes that were cut from subsequent versions of "Purple Rain". Nobody seems to remember this but me, but remember the scene where Prince finds Apples and Morris drunk, and Prince makes Apples get on his motorcycle and Morris calls Prince "a long-haired faggot"?

Well, I swear right after Morris says that, Prince zooms his motorcycle right up to Morris and says "I ONLY WANT TO BE LOVED - IS THAT SO WRONG?!" and then sends Morris flying into a pile of wet cardboard boxes.

I swear they cut that out of the movie.

They also cut out the samurai-fighting scene between Billy and Chick. I couldn't believe it. A lot of the Matrix-style, wire routines are based on that 5-minute battle. I'd hoped it would be restored to the DVD, but it wasn't...

They also cut out the part where Wendy and Lisa do the backwards crab walk, a la Linda Blair in "The Exorcist", during the live performance at the end of the movie. It's a shame, too - Wendy's head could really spin something fierce.

Apparently the producers thought this scene was too "indulgent" or something.

Well, I really hope that the 20th anniversary, IF, IF it's being planned, has all this stuff, which is normal to have on DVDs, deleted scenes, etc.

Some of those scenes can be scene on the trailer which in on the current DVD.

There's been a lot of 80's sales at Tower and Virgin, and one of the essential 80's albums is Purple Rain, and nothing else by Prince, so it would make sense to at least release PR as a remastered new print 20th aniiversary deleted scenes, with all music VIDEOS DVD.

Man that would be great!
