I don't know much about Prince in the days that he was topping charts and being a household name because I'm pretty young, but I like the feeling of that. I like keeping Prince to myself. I mean, I occasionally share with everyone how big of a fan I am of his, but it stops there.
If I were Prince, I'd choose his current level of success anyday because he has loyal fans like all of us on Prince.org. We love him and it's not just his music... It goes beyond that. And he must be happy because he willingly sacrificed all the things that most people would consider success just so he could feel that he had creative freedom and fans like us.

And what is wrong with a commercial Prince. Some of his best music came out when he was "Commercial". This TRC, NPS, RAVE, Emancipation garbage is far from great music. Most of it plain sucks.

I definately agree with you that those albums basically suck, but I believe Rave and Emancipation were commercial attempts. There is nothing wrong with a commercial Prince but I would rather have a Prince happy with what he's doing than trying to please the general public.
