Prince's Harcore fanbase IS around 100,000 - agree? This seems to be a bit of an issue.
Personally I think in reality 100,000 is a bit optimistic. It would be really cool if Ben (prince.org) could give us the hits per day, unique visitors and regstered members - this would help us get a ball park figure... | |

I have no idea how you would get this figure, and by what criteria you would judge it by.
NPGMC membership I've estimated at around 2,500 for 2002 membership - to be honest, I thought that was a little optimistic, but then we are talking global, so I imagine it was approx. correct. | |

Aren't there any figures for how many copies TRC sold ??
That would be a good indication I guess. I always thought npgmc membership might be 10,000 worldwide. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

U can't go on the number of TRC album sold as he said Prince had a HARDCORE fan base of 100,000. Hardcore is people like us who post on this website and rip his songs, comments, fashion and everything else connected to him - apart. | |

And believe it or not, there are some who
consider themselves hardcore Prince fans who don't post on this site, although they still keep up with Prince news and may still be a part of the NPGMC. I think there's a gray area about who's hardcore and who's not. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes. | |

Agreed, Supernova. Its a little blinkered to think that the .org is the only place where a "hardcore" fan (whatever your interpretation of that may be) might be found.
Also, I think that Hahn was referring really to total number of Prince fans world-wide - ie people who still buy Prince records. In someone like Hahn's eyes, the following he has now is a tiny proportion of that in his heyday - therefore (and considering his comparitively small sales these days) Hahn, I propose, considers pretty much ANY Prince fan to be hardcore. Me - I couldn't give a toss! Everyone could stop listening to him - but if I still found the music moving, I wouldn't care what everyone else was doing. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
