OK,so i wanna make my friend a CD of Prince stuff he will like... help me out.

& this can include live soundboard stuff but no shitty sounding outtakes.

he's in2 Punk,Hip hop,Rock (used 2 play bass for NewFoundGlory he did) & loves mad guitar stuff.

so im thinking stuff like Peach (sacrifice) , Joint2Joint,
Days O' Wild,etc...

help me out with a 80min cd of stuff that will blow him away. i'll probably get one done anyway but this is a good thread anyway 2 see what u would come up with for someoen who is in2 more hardcore & headbangin stuff.
turn 'em from Punk 2 Paisley
headbang

he respects Prince in that he is a great musician but just cant stand his voice or whatever it is,im not sure.

peace,
Joshy

If he is not into Prince, and does not know you're making this CD:

Do not make the CD all Prince.

Instead, burn him a mix CD with at most half of the songs by Prince. Do not start or end the CD with Prince. Write a track list if you want, but don't write down the artists.

Then his opinions of each song will be objective (provided he doesn't recognize Prince), and you can go from there.

You wouldn't believe how many friends of mine will sit in my car and jam to CDs like this. I put a couple things they'd recognize on my CDs like Weezer, or Earth Wind & Fire, or whatever, and I surround it with other stuff, not just Prince. They bob their heads, say this is some awesome stuff, they've never heard it before, who is it? They love it, and they say they hate Prince. Usually my answer to them is "a group called NPG", or I just give the title of the album it's from. "who is this?" "This is Xpectation". I know if I ever revealed that they were listening to Prince they would automatically know my mix CDs were filled with Prince and they would have to instantly hate them to show that their opinion's of Prince's music are authentic.

Hey, I'm 20. My friends have no idea what music is.

Now, on to this thread. You said he likes Hip-Hop and Rock, and Punk, he sounds like a Kid-Rock guy.

Days of Wild (Studio)
The Undertaker
Poor Goo
Peach (Undertaker)
Instrumental Jam (Small Club)
Joy in Repetition (It Ain't Over)
I Like it There
Maybe... Irresistable Bitch (He'd love the cover by Trik Turner at least)

I think a lot of the live guitar stuff would make him happy.

That's all I'm going to mention, because I really like lulirom and joshy's choices.

Now, this thing you do is f a n t a s t i c ! wink
I never did anything like this, but I really love witnessing all my friends' different reactions when I put on something they don't immediately recognize as Prince (maybe because it's not what you would considere a "Prince classic") and then tell them it actually is Prince and explain them the "what where when how and sometimes even why" of the music we're are listening to... sometimes they are really puzzled and surprised! wink

Get rid of Monstrosities like Poom Poom and Call the Law @ Bagley's and find something else.
