Wait, so the HCYDCMA on this album is supposedly from Prince's final tour? If that is true, how come Londell said mere weeks ago that they're taking their time to release a recording from that final tour to make it juuuuust right... and now they've placed this random live recording on this compilation of random studio tracks? How the fuck do those two things line up?

. Clowns. . I so hope they get torn to bits at the panel on Friday (but I don't expect so) and they get so sick of it that they quit (yeah right, as if they're gonna say bye-bye to this lucrative side hustle). . Can someone do me a favor and ask Lonnie how Prince came up with the idea for the song "1999"? . I wish I was a millionaire so I could have an acctress follow them around whenever they appear in public during the celebration, with her dressed as the nun from GoT and ringing a bell and yelling "Shame" every 30 seconds.

Teh only way to take this rwelease seriously is if it is a sampler like the Emancipation one from 96 or Rave from 99 and TRC from 2001 for a full multi disc boxset filled to at least 74 minutes per disc and without single edits or whatever that edit of Heaven is supposed to be.

I agree with U, I must say that many people complained very loudly when those guys were handling things too. So now maybe the thought may be that Prince fans will complain about releases no matter what. Which may be kind of true. We complained complained when the guy was alive and we still are. So maybe as the estate moves forward they may feel like we'll get the same old dissatisfied fans either way. Eventually there will be no more releases is what I believe. I also believe that a baby monkey could do a better job with Prince's musical legacy than this latest group.

Just popping in to say that vinyl records are nice, and that CDs are not necessarily the end-all music format. If they wanted to add more songs they could have easily made it a double LP, as they did with Originals.

NICKthebrick said: Why on earth put a live version of a song we've all heard thousands of times on this release. Because it probably from his last tour, the recordings of which everyone is gagging to hear. According to the blurb the compilation goes all the way to 2016 and that song (in live form), is the only one that could be from that year.

NICKthebrick said: Such a strange release. Why only 10 songs.
I'm guessing the live song is from piano and a mic. Heaven is a shorter version. Still the main song on the set for me. It appears to run in chronological order [Edited 6/4/26 5:34am] [Edited 6/4/26 5:41am] It’s only 10 songs due to resurgence in popularity of vinyl. You can only fit about 23 minutes per side and the manufacturing costs double when it becomes a double vinyl. It’s a money thing. [Edited 6/4/26 14:24pm]

Indeed, that's obviously the reason why but they could easily have an expanded tracklist for the CD release and a shorter one for the vinyl release. Other estates do that so i guess that's possible and this way we would not get ridiculously short tracklists.

We keep asking for a perfect porterhouse, but now they serve up a microwaved meatloaf! Welcome to "the org", nayroo2002… life, it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop

I think it's really important we keep up the constant negativity online. I've heard it bothers Londell. Do everything you can to make him as broke and uncomfortable as possible.

What sort of information behind the tracks are expected to be included in the package? Lyrics, personnel, recording dates, history behind songs? Or just some random photos.
I’m not going to rush and pre-order this one, it’s about 15 quid on CD but £9 on iTunes; hi-res version on qobuz is also about £15 to preorder the download. [Edited 6/4/26 15:33pm] There may or may not be something coming!

You know they did this shit to intentionally underwhelm the fans so that when everyone inevitably complains, they can say "see? you ungrateful fans are never happy with anything, so we're not gonna try releasing anything else!"

Because Llondel said it was more than 8 songs (meaning 9). It was probably then pointed out that they'd be accused of doing the bare minimum. So they slapped a live song on the end. 10. The bare minimum +2
Why in the name of Greek buggery would you (during an interview) openly muse about how it could possibly be a double album when he must have known at the time (since he must have had test pressings) that it was going to be a lean single album.
For all the grandstanding about how "It has to be done right" this looks rushed. The cover looks rubbish. It doesn't seem like there's any theme or cohesion, it's just 9 random songs + a live track (what fans have said from the beginning they don't want).
I'm going to assume (fully expecting to be dissapointed here too) that the previously released titles are alternate versions on here. Hopefully there will be some kind of update to the tracklist to give clarity as to which versions.
IMO this should be taken behind the nearest barn and shot. Replace it with a blues compilation album. At least there would be some merrit to that

My main gripe with this is the inclusion of the live version of How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?

It's garbage. I won't buy it. I won't buy anything this iteration of the estate sells. Fuck them. They've turned 40+ years of joyous Prince fandom into a continuing sadness in my life. No, londell, not because I'm a petulant child who can't have what he wants. I just can't stand to see Prince's legacy handled so shabbily. You should be embarrassed. At this point, I hope they go broke and disappear and the vault and entire archive are forgotten to enable rediscovery for future generations.
