Indeed. I buy a lot of music. I buy a lot of books. I buy a lot of movies. I would always buy what Prince was selling, sight unseen, to support Prince. There's no value for me in this release and I won't support the people selling it; I hope they fail and go away, future releases be damned.

Even though it's underwhelming I'll probably buy it at some point. Something is better than nothing. What I won't buy is something I already have like the ATWIAD reissue.

IIRC there's only one "active" admin and they don't check in often.

It's still 70+ days until the release. Are the estate going to release more singles? Assuming three weeks inbetween releases, the next possible dates are 25 June, 16 July, and 6 August. So by the album's release they will have burned 5 of its 10 tracks. That's a lot.

Of course, I'm just speculating. But they'll need to promote the album, right? Or are they just gonna keep quiet for two+ months and then do some promo and then that's it?

I don't understand why they couldn't release it earlier. Even end of July would have been a long time between announcement and release, but the move to end of August is just insane.

With very little basic promotion to stir up enthusiasm for the music - I kind of feel like this release could be the beginning of the end for Prince music from the vault. By not giving fans what they explicitly ask for from Prince's vault of tunes, is IMO the biggest mistake. His fans are so important to future legacy! I could understand if the estate COULDN'T do it, but this appears to be a case where the estate won't do it for reasons that they only know. If folks stop buying the music out of frustration with releases then its obviously going to be a wrap. I can see a future where a huge collection of his music just going to waste, and money running out. Maybe at some point after failing the vault will just be firesold to the highest bidder.

Somehow sadly enough, we can only hope that. :-/
