Just wondered if anyone remembers whether the NPP boxset (https://www.discogs.com/release/1811158-Graham-Central-Station-Chaka-Khan-New-Power-Generation-NPG-Newpowerpak) was released before or after GCS2000. As it was thu 1-800 New-Funk, I'm not too sure, but it's listed everywhere as being from 1998, while CGS 2000 alone was released on 02/02/1999 (and Princevault considers it the first release date, suggesting the boxset wasn't out yet). I think I remember hearing about the boxset in 98, but unsure if it was just announced or properly released.

Whoa, long shot. I do remember the talk about the NPP back in 1998, but I'm nearly sure it didn't come out before the stand alone release of GCS2000 in the Winter of 1999. Most likely it was a case like Crystal Ball - collecting orders before the complete thing was ready, even though the NPG and Chaka Khan albums were released already back then in 1998.

i still have extra copies of 'Come 2 My House' and 'Newpower Soul' still sealed cuz of the "pak".
Where i was, the deal was an exclusive copy of 'GCS2000' with the bundle.
i guess that got all mucked up like the 'crystal ball' released

IIRC the NPP was announced at the same time of GCS2000, months before the release of both.
