So presumably we're getting a Deluxe(?) edition of 3121 this Fall. Except: there are no B-Sides. Are there even outtakes? Or is the package going to include a video? But the one they posted on YouTube is in atrocious quality: https://www.youtube.com/w...Wsu9uma5SU .

Well the "remastered" tracks they put out on spotify were nice and it would be great if they have more material like that AND on hard-copy.
Also, wasn't there some sort of mini movie shot in that era (memory is failing me at the moment).

And I would be happy to see live footage from that album period, maybe from his casino concerts?

I thought so at first too, but it turns out that Dr. Funkenberry shared this on Vimeo (and probably other places) back in March, 2012. The video was also cropped back then.

I wouldn't be surprised. Warners must be tired of dealing with The Estate by now. Barely any releases since 2023 and no PR SDE in 2024 for the PR 40th anniversary.

That's one way of looking at it, if it's true.

I see it this way:

If Warner is causing issues with re-releases and SDE's (for whatever reason), it may be best to focus on albums that Prince actually owned masters to from the beginning, as his independence is a HUGE focus, this being the 30th anniversary of Emancipation and C&D, along with milestone anniversaries of other non-WB albums.

The Estate can easily decide to just release things between '96-'16, including vault material from that period and whatever vault material before '96 they have sole access to.

A common misconception is that P just "got his masters back" and that was the end of it.

It wasn't that simple. He got them back and the copyrights were transferred to NPG in exchange for for exclusive distribution rights to material recorded during his original tenure whose WB copyright ownership hadn't expired. The distribution rights for WBR albums were always going to remain exclusive to them, even though the copyrights now belong to NPG. It's why P&M 83 was distrubted via Warner.

It's confusing as hell, but that's the deal since 2014. We don't know whether the estate has had issues with renegotiations (assuming the deal was for 7 years, as was rumored at the time).

Well, I, for one, would be happy to see the 3121 movie. Any opportunity to see Prince on film is good. Besides, it's not as though it is any worse than Graffiti Bridge?

Why is this video in such bad quality?

And why is it framed (smaller) on a fake TV screen with a fake purple lit background?

I've seen the 'movie'. Its not really a movie though either. There's no real storyline...its more a bunch of clips joined by incidental elements... id like to see it released officially of course - but its not something I'd watch over and over

both versions or edits aren't that remarkable according tio the cliques who seen them and certainly not a 'movie'. Prince walking around Panama, recording in teh studio with some live shots thrown and whatever else. A bit like the Diamonds & Pearls video collection and 3 Chans Of Gold video release.

Probably they only have the footage in Standard Definition and haven't paid to get it upscaled to HD. So they just stuck a frame around it so they could upload to YouTube in "HD"

Which also makes me think we won't see a whole concert released.
