I always felt that way about those 2 performances, too. But as I said many times, Europeans, Urban America and funkateers were not the target audience. Those performances were aimed at rockers and White Middle America. It obviously worked. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

. Prince's halftime show has that huge wow-factor going for it from the start: the rain, and the fact that they (well, most of them) are playing live. That's already enough for a lot of folks to declare it to be the greatest ever. And of course most never seen Prince live before, so they are unaware that he used to be even better than that. But as Frank said: you can't do that on stage anymore. Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

How bad are the other half time shows? That's actually an interesting question. Now that you bring it up, Prince's one is the only one that I've seen that I actually thought was any good. Having said that, I've only seen about 5 or 6 of them. Prince's one is definitely the best. The only other one I even half enjoyed was the Justin Timberlake one. And even then I thought the performance itself was kind of shit but I like most of the songs he played. The Michael Jackson one was a major disappointment to me. I'd always heard people say how great it was and then I checked it out for myself and I don't think his microphone was on for even 10% of it. So yeah, you might say it's mediocre but Prince probably does have the best half time show.

I just checked it out quickly just to see if I was interested in watching the whole thing (I am!) and I just saw that bit where it says some people said they mostly listen to their own AI generated music. This echoes something I read last week about the erosion of shared culture thanks to Internet niches and, now, AI, that assumed that soon, people will watch AI generated films on Netflix that would be designed especially for them according to their tastes, and that no one else would ever see. . Thanks to the Internet and AI, and putting aside the existential risks associated with the latter, I am more and more convinced that we're witnessing an unprecendented cultural shift at a global level. And despite being a technoprogressist at heart, I am more and more terrified of the outcome... in great parts because no one is truly addressing it. . It's not that there's no literature about it, but if you look at the media's headlines and politicians' political discourses (and, obviously, voters' preoccupations), we have a situation—the changes and threats that are already taking place thanks to those new techs—that is fundamentally the most important thing going on at the moment, and everyone's acting like nothing's happening and everything will go on being the same forever. . What will be the main topics of the next presidential election in France in 2027? Most likely immigration and islam, the national debt, people's purchasing power, Ukraine and/or the general geopolitical situation, a little bit about the environment maybe, and probably little to nothing about AIs...
