Would have been great if they released a hit & run package including the unreleased phases. Do we know how finished they were and if they exist at all ?

Very glad of this! I have managed to hold out on buying the pirate copies of these 2.

It’s an interesting thought.
Why rerelease these on vinyl now? Seems very random. Something planned?

Don't get your hopes up: the Estate already discussed these Hitnrun 1 and 2 vinyl releases during their Cellie Vault panel.

So far the "first time on vinyl" releases have been great, if for no other reason than because of the loudness wars most of the CD releases just don't sound good at all. 3121 on vinyl for instance sounds sooo much better than the CD.

That’s the post I must have seen - glad I wasn’t making it up or hallucinating!
He even posted pictures of the singles, so it seems legit. The magazines are Musikexpress and Rolling Stone Germany.

Here are the pre order links for the magazines including the HnR 1+2 vinyl singles:

https://www.musik-magazine.de/musikexpress-01-26-03/

https://www.musik-magazine.de/rolling-stone-03-26-02/

Very interesting that this two vinyls get this huge exclusive media coverage - exactly like they did with the DnP SDE, SOTT SDE and a few other Prince releases. NO exclusive content and bigger stories for Around the world in a day though!! Seems like the Estate didn't put a penny for marketing in ATWIAD because they knew they messed it up... I hope so.

Yeah a lot of the tracks on HNR have some nasty distorted bass (not as bad a Breakdown on AOA but not great) so hopefully they'll be better mastered this time around.

Exactly the point I was going to make...

THis is a chance for the HitNRun albums to not sound like shit! They are SO distorted at times.

Hopefully the vinyl mastering will do for these what it did for 3121 and Musiclogy and Planet Earth.

With 3121 the vinyl version sounds so good it almost made me like the album! lol

Of course I want AAAAALLLLLLLL the unreleased music as much as anyone else, but it also makes total sense to get all the standard albums released in the major formats as well. Not every release has to be major/full of unreleased tracks.

But I'm looking forward to hearing Prince's final two albums on vinyl.

I had the chance to listen to HNR II and AOA on a high end system, and I can't hear the distortion you're reffering to. There must be something limiting in your audio chain. With hardware capable of handling big headroom and dynamics, they're fine.

Yes, these albums are compressed to death (a common lament during Prince's last decades), but there's no distortion.

PR "Paisley Park Remaster", on the other hand...

It's been discussed many times, « The Breakdown »’s final "needles in the red" effect is intentional, it goes with the subject of the song. But since it's a digital distortion and not an analog one, it certainly isn't pleasant to the ear (it's all odd harmonics).
