Can we not just get the Springsteen estate to take over?

I'm really torn. This is a nice package, and if it fit in with or was designated to any sort of release strategy, I'd be all over it. Every album should have this treatment. On the other hand, it contains nothing I'm not already in possession of a physical copy of. And it signals nothing...just another random (and lacking) release... This estate are really disappointing. Prince really deserves better than what's going on.

I think any trust that was left in the estate is now completely gone. We'll be lucky if we even get one more SDE in the future but that's probably it. U are now an official member of the New Power Generation

This should have been released in May. . And then the release for this Fall should have been an SDE of The Gold Experience with tons of outtakes and unreleased mixes etc., plus a bunch of recordings from both "regular" concerts as well as aftershows. At least a dozen CDs plus one or two Blu-rays with concert videos etc. . Instead Charlie the clown is on Twitter telling people that they should enjoy all that music they've given us this year, like the acoustic version of Free and the live version of Sign O The Times and... oh wait, that's it. That's all of it. Seven frikking months after "the vault is free" and we've gotten two previously unreleased tracks. . Note that the upcoming Sheena Easton box set will contain three previously unreleased versions of "Eternity". . Can anyone please tell me what the two clowns have been doing all these months? Surely it cannot be compiling this release? Because on launch the pages on the official site were riddled with errors. There was a bunch of ugly-ass merch, perhaps that took up all their time? Surely it cannot be those two tracks they released? Or was it the laughable Celebration? These two clowns get paid lots of money. And yet they've got nothing to show for that. . I'm grateful for what we have received but even 10 years on, Prince spoiled us. We just know that he has too much in the vault to be satisfied with a (much needed) remaster and nothing more from his vault. Why not give us a live show? Why not the Family album but with Prince's vocals./versoins.
It really seems short sighted....he is known for his prolific output, and yet, nothing?????????

I have to say, now that I'm putting my disappointment of no vault tracks aside...I'm looknig very forward to hearing Pop Life more clearly. It's always missed the bottom end. The bass playing has always been hard to hear...you know it's prominent (especially for a pop song) but, hard to hear.
To have Pop Life extended (9min) in great quality means i'm going to have a GREAT Christmas. I'm looking forward to hearing a full low end when the double kicks finish off She's Always In My Hair!
To hear the subtleties of Condition of the Heart...the gentle guitars, the piano and his wonderfully backgrounds...very excited. VERY!!
If the SOTT remaster is an indication, we're going to hear a lot more into these songs. I still recall that twinkle on Slow Love's keyboards that I don't think I'd ever heard before. I truly hope ATWIAD is as good.

I've got is and I don't like it. Might be my ears are getting old, but the bass it too much and the high end is missing on the vocal. .

No vault tracks is an absolute farce. Can we get Howe back? These guys suck.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Because it's a track not on the original album.
Probably there wasn't enough room for a 22 minute track on the 2nd disc of all 'bonus tracks' so it's tacked on to the end of the 1st disc

I'm actually looking forward to this and think they should have released the remastered albums in exactly this 'deluxe' fashion (album/b-sides/12" versions) and then the vault tracks and live sets separately. Hardcore fans who have the originals can just buy the vault/live stuff, casual fans the albums with the extra mixes etc. The rest of us buy everything, lol. The Estate could even have released the deluxe albums in batches, say four or five at a time, in chronological order.SDEs are wonderful and SOTT is one of the finest SDEs ever, but they are overly expensive and likely too much for casual fans.

It is not the Springsteen estate. It is Bruce Springsteen himself releasing his vault.

I dont mind smaller releases but why the big wait? And why only this since 2023? Why not release more smaller releases for special anniversaries or whatever... Record Store Day should be mandatory unreleased vinyl or a one off special single or picture disc.... in the year of a superdeluxe release we dont mind if that's it for the year...but if they're going to release something smaller like this there's gotta be more spread out over the year... a live cd or dvd...anything except the tacky crap they keep trying to sell us...I don't need purple rain gumboots or an ATWIAD suitcase...some of the designs are bloody terrible... Also - what does the other side of the ATWIAD picture disc look like? Surely both sides should be shown on their site...

Well yes but you get the point, whoever is working with him certainly know how to manage vault releases

If not mistaken, whatever the length, the streaming version is sligntly edited (at the end) compared to "His Majesty's Pop Life" version (thanks Japan again for this release that could B quite considered as a Deluxe Edition of the album). . I found ridiculous Charlie said on X "I told expanded version, not SDE" when a lot of reviewers from Celebration told he said "expanded" and after "SDE". Why wait until now to clarify it is a simple remaster + b-side? Silly silly silly

There were plenty of tracks recorded from when the PR track list was finalized up until the ATWIAD track list was finalized. And that’s just what is on PrinceVault. Even if it were just his demos for The Family, that would’ve been better than nothing. And they could release the show that the America video is from. Zero vault tracks is a slap in the face. Take someone else’s money.

I remember reading that on another thread.

. Yes. first he talked about an expanded version then, after the event, he personally talked about SDE with one of the participants who then wrote it in his review of the event

Sadly, some stuff is missing: . - 4 The Tears In Your Eyes (Promo Video Version) . - America (Promo Video Version) . - Paisley Park (Mono) (from French promo) - Paisley Park (Promo Video Edit) . - Raspberry Beret (Promo Video Edit) . I guess it just didn't fit on 2 CDs, but they could easily be released as a bonus digital EP or something... If anyone is in touch with them on social media or whatever, by all means please let them know... . I won't get into the argument regarding the lack of unreleased material, but it would be pretty sweet if those releases could be comprehensive, even if only in digital format, regarding previously released material. So far, none of the SDEs managed to achieve this. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Don't really agree with you here (and note I'm frustrated as anybody else with this set). Out of the 5 titles you mention only ONE got actually released on a physical format, and I'm 99,9% sure the "mono" Paisley Park released as a promo 7" in France is simply as fold-down mono and not a dedicated mix, therefore not necessary at all. The "promo video edits" don't offer anything worth the space. Reckon I'm a bit lost regarding the "4 The Tears In Your Eyes" video version. Was it really that different from the released versions? The live version of America from the video would have been great, but then again, why not the complete (short) performance and a DVD to go with?
