When The Estate cried about the case on Facebook, the comments all seemed to be in support for Apollonia. "Just give her the name", the fans said. smile

It's all about money. wink

FFS, she has no rights to the movie character name which is actually owned by Warner Brothers and not the estate.

Is she going to sue Mario Puzo who created the character in Rhe Godfather?
Is she trying to say SHE wants the Broadway role?
Didn't she realize she have been better using her real name all these years?

Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone
Film character, The Godfather

Yes. For HER.
She ibviously thinks if she can legally keep the name, she will get a cut off the profits from the Broadway show and everything else ever produced.

No one is dripping her from using it.

As much as i know, this feels right to me.

It was her given prince name. Just like Carmen, who changed hers finally, legally.

Apples said on Letterman in 1984 that it was her middle name.

...Apples has said lots of things over the years that are verifiably untrue, just like Prince and all the other protégées did. Remember, the 1980s were pre-internet, and a big part of the Hollywood PR world was creating these mythologies around celebrities using assumed names, fake birthdates, and anything else they could bullshit in order to generate buzz and sell more product.

Hell, Prince used to say he was half-Italian. Susan Moonsie used to pretend she was 16 when she was running around the world in her lingerie clutching Mr. Bear for dear life. Jamie Starr was a real person until he wasn't.

There are sooooo many old interviews and PR appearances where absolutely everything they're saying about themselves and their lives is completely false and 100%, unmitigated bullshit.

Until Patty Kotero supplies her birth certificate with "Apollonia" on it, this claim should also be assumed to be false.

Was that the reaction on Facebook? I'm not on there, but I am on Instagram, where the reaction was more negative towards The Estate for being messy and unprofessional by making this nonsense so public.

I honestly can't care less about what is really a contract dispute since I'm not privy to the terms of the contract itself, but I do have an opinion about the fragile-egoed clowns in charge of The Estate and its social media accounts constantly talking smack and bullying the very people they SHOULD be courting and collaborating with to promote Prince's legacy, do PR, provide personal photographs and/or period artifacts for deluxe packages, booklets and/or liner notes, posters, vinyl re-issues, bonus tracks, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...

There is absolutely NOTHING to be gained by systematically alienating anyone and everyone not directly employed by The Estate, even if the braintrust behind The Estate insists on only selling bed linens and cheap, scratchy T-shirts. lol

It's about money for the Estate too. They probably want to sell Apollonia lingerie or whatever at their airport shop and not have to pay Apollonia a dime. lol I'm sure the reason why Apollonia 6 and all the other Prince protegée albums haven't been re-released is because the Estate don't wanna pay 'em. I'm sure the reason why Come To My House failed to appear when announced a couple of years ago was because of money-disputes. razz

Yes. Or a Prince & Apples on the motorbike plastic toy.

It's about money for them, and would become about $ for her too if they were to do it.

The estate does not own the name "Apolonnia". All copyrights (INCLUDING the film's music) belong to Warner Brothers and Warner Brothers Records.
She's used the name for years , which is quite silly because what legit actress would take a charactger's name as claim it was theirs/

Is anyone telling her not to use it? No.

This is like the Morris Day thing vs the estate when there was clearly a contract between MD and Prince that Prince would own the group's trademark name.

Patricia Kotero shoud grow up and be an actress all by herself like a big girl. And no, she is NOT "Prince's widow".

Which is part of the problem, because by allowing her to use that name for credits in movies and TV shows etc., and by allowing her to release music using that name, it means that if someone else owned it, they didn't defend their copyright enough. And it's pretty hard to ignore 40 years of her using that name without any opposition.

Also, what did she stand to gain by saying that back in 1984?

When you think about it, The current Estate bunglers are clearly unwilling to share in the Purple pie, or any pie for that matter.

falloff Problem solved!
