why would anyone go see a musical when they don't know anything about the guy?

Well, how many people today know anything about Alexander Hamilton? That didn't stop the Broadway musical about him from being a big hit. It was even filmed and shown on Disney+

I am European (Belgian) and i'm aware that musicals have been getting more attention here only in the last 10 years too. It must be something Anglo-Saxon, which I will never understand. Seen some, and it never pleased me at all. I'm not for screaming or cheesy vocals, framed in magnified clichés I know, it's just me. To me, musicals and funk (in this case) could not be more distant from each other, musically.

I don't mind a PR musical if that will get more peeps into P, then go for it.

However, I am not feeling a Woke version of PR that's not representative of that era.

And blocking everything else for 2 years (or who knows for how long) of PR is insane. neutral

Despite anyone's taste, theater is high art and live entertainment. Its creators and publishers of works get paid the largest, too. All of this should be considered--heck, or not!

At one time, a lot of the movies made in Hollywood were either musicals or westerns. Or both in the case of Paint Your Wagon, lol. Both started to lose popularity in the 1970s, but occasionally a movie musical becomes a hit. Today, movie musicals are very popular in India, known as Bollywood movies. There's even singing and dancing in some Indian action movies. Madea (Tyler Perry) originated in gospel music stage plays. Tyler Perry is now a billionaire and owns his own movie studio.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I had planned to go, but this move to November is a no-go for me. I have no intention of vacationing in Minneapolis in November (assuming the show even runs then).

I'm in Minneapolis right now for PP (great !) and some other visits. It used 2 snow (a little) two days ago.

Nice! enjoy it, plus the snow. wink

It would be nice if you could share some details of your visit.

What kind of tour did you take?

How was it?
