rap

If Primary Wave made overtures to Tyka and bought that remaining 2%, would that give them a controlling interest?

I agree that this is the Prince Estate trying to save face for failing to release the PR SDE this year, which is the ball drop of the century imo. They know what we were expecting, and they know they failed to deliver, for whatever reason. It seems they think the problems will be ironed out by 2025. However, if it doesn't come next year, they should fire themselves.

Seriously, since Londell MakeMillions is running The Estate, he publicly said they would not be doing SDE anymore. Because it's too much time and money for so little revenues. They just released D&P because 1) It was already done 2) So basically the R&D costs were about zero Now that they saw that was such a niche the costly way they are selling that material, they won't be doing it anymore, even if we know Love Symbol SDE is already done. Now, all they wish to exploit from Purple Rain is the 1983 live at 1st avenue. Why? Because it has already been completed and remastered by the previous estate. MakeMillions will run the Prince estate the same way those bastards of MJ estate are running their business. Unreleased material doesn't worth a penny, but musicals, licensing music, biopic, etc. Are where the big money is. And they all don't care about the artist.

When did he say this?

SDE's are a stupid and narrow minded format for releases. That being said, if the only alternative is NOTHING because they're too lazy to put thought into it, then yeah keep the SDE's coming. Just ridiculous.

Yes it's a huge failure that they didn't manage to release the PR SDE this year or at least the First Avenue '83 show. Everyone was expecting some kind of release but I think we all knew the estate would screw up in one way or another, which they did.

Just take a look at any Prince or Paisley Park social media post, and note all of the comments of casual fans gushing over gaudy merchandise or shoe displays at the museum. Those are the folks that Londell is catering to - people who are easily impressed and willing to throw down money for low quality bullshit.

The estate is never going to bother putting out vault releases again as long as Londell and Charles are in charge. I sincerely believe that.

That email is the funniest thing I've read this week. Did they forget about the music? Prince filled that vault full of music and nobody's bothered enough to release it. Incredible.

If I recall correctly it was Sharon Nelson who once said that SDEs cost to much to produce but that was two years ago.

Just stop buying fucking bedsheets and totebags & paying extortionate amounts to go to Celebrations.

It's that simple. If they only make money out of his music, they'll release more music.

He tweeted about it, IIRC he was asked and said the way the previous estate released material for fans was stupid, too costly, etc.
So what were they doing beside releasing SDE.
They don't want to release physical box sets anymore.

Sony also gave up fast to release the catalogue post -WB. Which was stupid since the ones who would have sold better were the ones they didn't release : Chocolate Invasion, Slaughter house, and other NPGMC releases that weren't officially release in public stores.

So they threw out some bones for RSD ( Gold, The Truth) but they even stopped that.
I think they went too far with the Emancipation 6-LP.

Probably right- stop buying the tat and going to the Celebrations and the Estate will soon change tack. If SDEs are too expensive - and I refuse to accept that, as so many other artists and labels release them with success-then release 'new' albums of vault material.

I told u guys this Estate was trash from day 1.

There are NO surrpises here.

When an underdeserving group gets their hands on money,

everything goes 2 shit.

These people have zero interest in preserving anything related 2 Prince.

When he was alive, he didn't deal with any of them.

What does that tell u?

They didn't even bother to release a couple of singles during the PR celebration like they did with Musicology earlier this year. Maybe because they knew people would expect a PR SDE if they did.

If they're going to continue to celebrate PR into 2025, might that be an indication that a PR Super Deluxe could come later? Total speculation, and I'm not sure how linked the two things are.

Just saw this. WTF?! Prince isn't/wasn't a one-hit wonder, why are they dragging the PR anniversary out to cover another year?

Londell was definitely involved with Prince during his lifetime.
