Prince's voice (85-87 era)

Am I the only one who can't stand the way he sounds on songs like Eggplant, Girls and Boys, Everybody wants what they don't got,Yo mister and many songs from that era 85-87. There's a very nasal sound to his voice and he was probably doing it intentionally.

Nope. It wasn't on all the songs. It would have to do with mics, playing with the outputs, etc. He stretched his voice in every way possible. I also loved it.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I love his vocals on those songs smile

Probably any singers here can tell us the specifics, it's more of a resonant "head voice" right? Not quite falsetto, not chest voice either. I love the way he was always pushing his voice to do new things.

Any other era besides that one. Should be obvious since that's the only time period I pointed out.

CO-SIGN, ppg.

Like yeah, okay, it's unique and "stretching" his vox ability, but it's still bad. This is the real reason he started to lose his black audience.

vox on his Yo Mister are actually some of my favorites ever of his, at least the part where he's screaming - it's like Anna Stesia a year before
