By accident I stumbled upon the as-yet-unreleased studio version of Take This Beat. It was posted somewhere on the internet several months ago. Never heard it before - obviously I must have missed that it had leaked.

I first suspected that it was edited down from the 12'' of Eye Wish U Heaven, but after several listens it seems legit to me. And it's great stuff - very raw, simple and demo-like, exactly why I love Prince!

Anybody knows where and when it leaked? Maybe I missed some other new interesting stuff, too?

I can only say that it is basically what was mixed with I wish You heaven. Kinda like what he did with Scandalous too, and Space (universal love mix). Just mix 2 songs that haven't really got much to do with eachother, yet it sounds great when combined. Kinda like how he used Clare Fischer orchestrations that were written for completely different songs. (and how I wish I could hear Others Here With Us without the fairlight and just Prince with orchestration....)

And no, haven't heard about other leaks, unfortunately. I might love Take This Beat more than the 12 inch version of I Wish You Heaven, when I already love that version...

The only other element of a different song in the "Scandalous Sex Suite" is part of the guitar solo from "Dear Michaelangelo".

You mean the 5:53 version? Sounds like a fan-made mix.

Yes, that's the one. I also thought it's fan-made at first, but then I noticed it has some elements that are not in the 12'' version of Eye Wish Heaven. So I'm still not sure about whether or not it's legit. Hope somebody here can clear things up!

I like it a lot But I'm not sure that this is not a fan made mix. Mainly because princevault
seems to say that Take This Beat had different lyrics and was pretty much a different song to
what ended up being part III of I Wish U Heaven 12".

Still, it's a nice enough mix, I enjoy it

Listen to the Rapture part of the Scandalous Sex Suite again. It kinda starts as the same song, but it progessively grows apart and comes together at times.

As to Space (Universal Love remix) has a song called Universal Love mixed in with Space. (personally I think Universal Love is better than Space, but that's just me) Universal Love is close to a rerecording on the same song, like Violet the Organ Grinder. Whereas Scandalous and I wish You Heaven are basically a mix playing both songs at the same time.

What makes people think it's a fan made mix? Based on what original? I understand AI let's you pull apart music to some extend, but I haven't it heard this good, not to mention some things being different, the beat itself, if nothing else. If this is a fan made edit, I'd love to hear more of their work!

/hmmm... listened to the 2 side by side, it's much closer the original 12" than I remembered. It also has some "odd" cuts. I think I'm going to have to admit I was taken in and change my opinion to fan mix. Nice edit though.

This is the first time I'm hearing of any song called Universal Love, but am intrigued. Is this something you've heard or heard of?

With Universal Love it is more debatable wether it started as a remix, similar to some Get Off "mixes", like Violet the Organ Grinder. With Scandalous, it is more clearly a separate song that was simply mixed in. (i.e. the chord changes don't match)

I have no info here, I just used it as an example of a mix that came out that is simply a different song.
