New Purple Rain Exhibits at Paisley Park

The Purple Rain room has the Academy Awards outfit, without the hooded cape, The Let's Go Crazy outfit from Purple Rain, and the purple trenchcoat, white shirt, and black pants, also from Purple Rain.

The room where the shoe exhibit was, is now also a Purple Rain room. One wall is covered with different posters from the film and tour. There is an interactive thing in the middle of the room the size of a pool table where you can touch pictures and it will enlarge them and give a short description of the photo. There are a lot of behind the scenes photos from Purple Rain of the cast and on-set photos. I don't recall if they had an outfit in there or not.

The hallway where the Jeff Katz photos were now have, you guessed it, Purple Rain photos. Lots of photos from the Purple Rain tour.

You can take pics in the soundstage. These were all in there.

Cool to see.

Thank you.

But what a strange way to exhibit them, cheap in some way, no?

I've been to many fashion museums, and they have a whole other and better stylish way of presenting 'clothes'...

This isn't a fashion museum, though. It's a recording studio.

And yet they don't focus solely on the recording aspect of Prince's career. If they want to show off his wardrobe, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that they present it in a more stylish way. Londell's Paisley Park is all about cutting corners, though.

Too bad they didn't take any pointers from Graceland about presenting outfits. At least they have the pants and shoes to go with them now.

You're either full of it or ridiculously easy to please, because they clearly put no effort or money into this presentation.

Good one???

You think setting up multiple mannequins on boxes draped in cloth in a mostly vacant soundstage looks impressive?

Paisley could be so, so interesting. The shoe exhibit was a huge step in the right direction; now that was years ago and nothing similar has happened since - and now that's gone. It's a shame.

If you don't think this presentation looks tacky and cheap, then you've got bad taste, simple as.

You are forgetting that the soundstage was full of people for some Celebration events.

This isn't a fashion museum, though. It's a recording studio.

That doesn't mean they could do better.
In a fashion museum, they're not sloppy with sound either, if they had to use it.
