Everybody seems to be going off of a blurb that Charles Spicer gave in a magazine last year, but he never specifically referred to a Purple Rain SDE. He just gave the vague assurance that they wouldn't go through 2024 without celebrating the Purple Rain album and movie.

I would love to be proven wrong more than anything, but I wouldn't put it past Londell and Spicer to count the 4k film and Atmos album blu-rays as their big releases this year

I believe Spicer said there will be something releesed in 2024 in regards to the movie and the music. And as bozo mentioned above, hopefully the Atmos release is not what he meant lol.
They should milk Purple Rain for everything they can. I think taking advantage of releasing the original version of the song Purple Rain and getting some positive press coverage is a good move. That will get streams from not just Prince fans. The Beautiful Ones OG, that needs to be available to the masses as well. It has potential to get some attention. It's by far the easiest money grab for the people that profit from Prince music. This SDE would be a homerun for them. It needs to be a part of the SDE series, kinda weird it isn't. And that PR deluxe edition they released already...they already took the dvd, live from Syracuse and gave it the royal treatment

Anyways, you have a valid point. Since there is evidence of Parade and the Love album SDE and no summer release announced at this point, looks like they are waiting for the holiday season to release whatever they choose.

They're not locked in the sense that you can't comment on them anymore. They have been locked by the moderators and you can't see any message in the thread even if you have the link/URL to the thread.

There are reports, but they're all over the place (Discord servers, Twitter/X, Facebook, private forums, etc.).

The "Prince community" (if there ever was one) has never been as segmented/dispersed as nowadays.

The estate killing us wasn't good enough, we have to kill ourselves too. Pitiful.

I still think there's a chance we might get SDE by the end of the year but it seems like we can forget about PR SDE.

Well I guess that's something. Although that means we have to wait at least another year
for the Parade SDE. I just want that Parade SDE so bad.

Those guys running the whole Prince Estate, it means a lot you know.

- It means we will never get what we want

- It means we'll have lots of litigations with other individuals and/or companies instead

- It means they'll keep dangling carots in front of our noses during the Celebrations showing how much they have but meanwhile releasing nothing

- It means we won't have PR40 or any other SDE this year

- It means Netflix will not allow any other Vault release until they give their green light so they can release their ready to go documentary.

- It means desolation and a huge waste for all the music lovers
