But what about releasing the stuff from last year? Surely that would be ok?

Agree. But hey, who knows what the plan is. I think the estate are a bit too in love with cryptic, witholding, temperamental prince ways of releasing music. Theyre like post Warner prince, whereas i think most fans would prefer music released like Warner period prince, ie consistently, reliably, etc.

I am beginning to understand that continuing to blame those currently in charge will not help us in the future of new releases or whatever plans they have.
And believe me, I have blamed them many times too.
But it doesn't help anything or anyone, not yet, not then and not soon.
Just a way to vent oneself isn't really worth it either.

It has not come to nothing so far.
So better to focus on what is available, and what we (can) get.
Everything else is lost energy imho.

I'm already happy to know there are possible unreleased/unfinshed albums we never even dreamed about.

I can only hope they release them 'unfinished' or 'finished so far' the way they were left in the vault.

IF someone ever want to release it, whomever it might be.

I can still say so many bad words about how it all is handled so far... but it's not going to help anything or anyone. Right?

Let's Go Crazy (Demo) - Slower BPM, almost punk feel w a relaxed vocal that brought to mind Adam Ant, Billy Idol, even Johnny Rotten? First chorus diff lyrix "Am I gonna let the elevator.....?"

.

"Fat Jazz" - 1977 jazz jam with Prince, Andre and Bobby Z - very cool instrumental jam

.

However Much U Want (Piano Demo) - super boogie woogie early rock and roll Little Richard vibes with a piano jam part at the end - so cool!

.

"First Time I Saw U" - Prince and John L Nelson, super fast drum machine beat with John L playing piano and Prince vibing falsetto!

.

"FRICTION" - Charles Spicer said they found a whole Jamie Starr album in the vault from 85 and this was a jam with Linn and Oberheim, total Minneapolis Sound vibes, vocal cadence sounded like Head somewhat

.

"All The Kings Horses" (Strings Version) - the non string version was played last year and went down so well that when they found this version with Clare Fischer arrangements Charles decided to bring it back!

.

"Calabama" - it was mentioned that this was the title track to an album Prince was working on pre Musicology but it sounded like an alternate take on "Prince and The Band" with some of the same lyrics

.

"No Changes" - recorded 87, sounded like a mashup between Lovesexy title track and Electric Chair! Aggressively funky

.

"And God Created Woman" (piano demo) with a part of "3 Chains O Gold" at the end.... Absolutely beautiful

.

"Purple Rain" (original piano demo) - the earliest version of the song we've ever heard. Prince working out to a degree on just piano.... Clear that he hadn't figured out the arrangement properly but was amazing to hear

.

as we walked into Paisley there was a previously unheard clip playing of a blues jam, which Charles mentioned had come from a 25 minute runtime jam recently found in the vault, but no more info on when it was from

.

source: https://x.com/CaseyRain/s...4180334675

more info :

-

Let's Go Crazy (demo) - 4:10

Fat Jazz - 3:00

However Much U Want (Piano Demo) - 5:35

First Time I Saw U - 2:29

Friction - 2:40

All The Kings Horses (strings version) - 5:09

Calabama - 4:06

No Changes - 3:40

And God Created Woman (piano demo) - 3:00

Purple Rain (original piano demo) - 4:50

-

Mind that most tracks are demo's (and therefor?) short...

So that's it, all together we have +42 min of never before heard music we know that excists.

I understand what you mean. It's frustrating to keep complaining (as I do). But I'm pretty sure not saying anything won't help either. Being silent gives the wrong signal.

We should vote with our wallet, as Neversin keeps saying. I already do. So I don't buy merchandising, but I buy official releases. The problem is that there are so few of them. So it only gets you so far.

I understand why the current Estate is organizing those "exclusive listening sessions". But this is not the way to go to curate Prince's legacy. If it's a temporary experiment, while waiting for (legal?) problems to be solved, then fine. Otherwise, it's misguided.

A few weeks would probably be too soon. But I'm pretty sure nobody in the attendance would complain if those songs were made public one year later (for example).

While the new info is welcome (though totally random, not delivered in an academic way), it's somewhat sadistic to play those songs once to a little group who'll never hear them again and tacitely let the rest of the world know they're not going to release any of it any time soon err

What's next? An album that they only sell 1 copy of, for a fortune, that no one else will ever hear. Wu Tang already did that and I've never heard anyone say they thought it was a good idea.

May as well sell NFTs. mad

And what is a "Jamie Starr" album anyway? Is there an "Alexander Nevermind" album in the vault too?

I always thought that FRICTION was a 1981 track. Maybe be polished it up a bit in 85 for a new project?

Like many tracks, it was probably reworked multiple times, over many years. It might have been reworked in 1985, altough it's not mentioned in Duane's book (if I'm not mistaken).

Exactly.. I’m sure they would want these songs in their collections also. The Estate doesn’t realize how much money they would make releasing these songs???

As much as I hesitate to sanction random one-off's of tracks from different eras together, releasing these songs or last year's as a "vault sampler" along with low key CD and vinyl releases would make them an absolute killing off minimal effort. It's really not hard.

I like the sound of No Changes.

I was hoping they would play something unknown from the Purple Rain era and also release it to everyone.

I imagine the atmosphere at these listening sessions a bit like a cross between Prince's own
The Rainbow Children listening party post party 'chats' and an episode of The Office.

Not sure how inducive that is to asking frivolous questions like "this is great music, will it be
released? If so, when and how?"

I mean, what Prince fan is at the celebration because of their interest in unheard music? Not
a single one, it seems smile

Why does everyone think there's going to be yet another PR SDE? Has there been any inside info leak I haven't heard of? Because if not I don't see that happening this year.
