While we're on the subject, Macy Gray once said Prince recorded some "piano" on a song from The ID and demanded to be uncredited. It may be Hey Young World, since she also said Questlove was involved, but either way, it's unclear whether Prince's part was kept, her statement is somewhat ambiguous.

it'd be very cool to one day have a list of all his 'secret' guest appearances on other artist's albums cool

The problem is even researchers or the Estate can't tell. We're entirely depending on the artists (or witnesses such as engineers) to tell. There have been quite a few revelations since Prince died (see Princevault's related artists' albums and singles' pages), but some artists may choose not to ever talk.

Another one might be Days Of Wild, I thought I read Prince wrote the song for Lenny years ago, but it never happened, I think I kind of hear Lenny on that track in parts.

The rumor I heard back circa 95-98 was that Lenny was planning to release a cover of it on a funk album he wanted to make. There was no mention of Prince being involved or of Lenny being on his version, but it's something I was told by other fans, I don't even know where the info came from.

I think not, but if you were there you probably remember the cult status DoW had acquired in the fanbase back then (not the studio version but because of the life performances). It's a very special song in the purple canon.

I do recall somewhere Prince saying he made a record with Lenny but it could never come out because of labels, who knows if it was totally true I think he said it during the "slave" era battle. I know Paul Peterson mentioned getting calls to come play and he still has no clue what he was playing on, nothing was credited you were jamming but he was recording it all for possible use. A fan after prince passed told Paul "that's you on bass you know" and he said "is it?, oh shit it is"

Fascinating. Do you remember which song it was with Paul?

In the Zane Lowe interview Lenny seems to imply he & Tony LeMans worked on 'Bundle Of Joy' together back in the day, though his credit on the Paisley Park release is missing. Is this just erroneous on the original credits? Can anyone shed light on this?

I asked myself the same question and checked the credits on Discogs and listened to Lenny's version quickly on YT right after I saw the interview (I haven't gotten Lenny's new album yet), and I was under the impression the lyrics were different, so I assumed Tony rewrote the lyrics, thus probably removed Lenny's contributions. But I may be wrong, I'd have to listen to it again.

This was a great interview . . . borderline "too long" but nice to see two guys just having a conversation.

I've seen Lenny 3x in concert here in the Detroit area. 1993, 1994 and again in 2019. He always seemed very chill. He's one of my favorites for that reason, hopefully he's cool in real life.

He's not the best lyricist (Mad TV did a skit on his lyrics), but the music always rocks and his message is positive.

Haven't done a side-by-side but the lyrics appear to be the same to me. Perhaps he always should have been credited (though presumably this would have been under the Romeo Blue psuedonym he was going by at that time). Would love to know for sure though!
