Andrea Swensson: "So, they moved all of that to an Iron Mountain facility where it's been properly stored and it's in the process of being cataloged and digitized. Thankfully, that was able to happen in time to rescue all of this material and properly preserve it. Because gosh, I hope eventually someday that all ends up in like the Smithsonian or somewhere where it can be really studied and appreciated on the level that it needs to be."

Andrea : "Prince was kind of known for firing people that worked for him, and he would go through these periods where there were not that many people even working at Paisley Park, and it would kind of be this little skeleton crew.

And at one point, all the people that knew the code for the vault had been fired, so no one even knew how to get in there. So, they just started leaving the tapes at the door to the vaults. And it just kept amassing more and more and more and more. It's really wild to think about just the volume of material that existed."

Well well... Does this mean that Prince, while he was still alive and in the last years of his life, didn't know the code to his own vault?

Maybe that would be a much better idea, so we all can go for a run to the Smithsonian, while we're all 70/80 years old.

My guess is that it is more acceptable to finally hear all the unreleased material than to wait for 'Prince LLC' to get some work done properly.

It would be really nice, but it would be more suitable for researchers than for us "regular" fans. I don't know how they could manage hundreds or thousands of fans wanting to listen to hours of music "just for fun".

Can anyone confirm if there is any truth that there was more than one vault, and I'm not referring to the tape vault upstairs?

PP sounds like any other workplace really.
And prince is obv not a great studio manager.
This is what it sounds like... when an artists personal studio stops being run like a business.

Someone who worked for Prince said he changed the code to get into the vault daily and one day he forgot it. I wish I could remember who.
