Celebration 2024: Thursday 20 June - Monday 24 June

I just encountered this page with the current program for VIP ticket holders, and what struck me is how much isn't happening at Paisley Park but elsewhere.

.

There are also some things on that program that I don't recall seeing mentioned before:

.

- Purple Rain is shown at State Theatre, and is preceded by "Concert Footage".

.

- There is a "Broadway Musical Presentation" at State Theatre, again preceded by "Concert Footage".

.

Also, maybe it's me, but these "five days" are barely filled.

.

- Sunday and Monday both feature "Outdoor Live Music, Activities and Food Trucks at Paisley Park", and on Monday the only other activity is "Cruise on Lake Minnetonka". On Sunday there's a "Sunday Gospel Brunch". None of these things are directly Prince-related. Sure, on Sunday there's also "Exclusive Concert Footage", but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the same as the one from Thursday (and I'm hoping it is different from the footage being shown on Fri and Sat).

.

- Saturday: "Morris Day, NPG, and Prince Celebration Special Guests Concert": why is there no location mentioned? Considering that the rest of that day's activities are in Minneapolis and not at PP, I presume that concert isn't at PP.

I just wish they would make some of the celebration available online for those fans around the world that can't be at PP.

Exactly, but they will never do that, because

1) It doesn't MakeMillions rich.

2) It is too expensive for them to create this

3) It might keep ticket buyers away

4) the fear of us bootlegging some shit

Bizzie, on Thursday there's also "Exclusive Listening Session (Unreleased Vault Material) at Paisley Park"

In the end ... there will be only Listening sessions from the vault at PP with no more SDE to release!

How exciting the .org community is (not) about this year's Celebration.

Aren't tickets usally sold out at this point?

Soft Sales??

Is it over priced or is it the programming?

For me, it's the price, $900, after taxes and insurance, is overpriced for not getting to hear unreleased music. Seeing the Revolution at First Avenue would be incredible. Saturday programming looks soild too. But the last 2 days not so much.

I'm wondering if it is priced so high due to Artist fees? 5 people in The Revolution and Morris, price tag is probably not cheap. I think getting The Time would have tipped the scale for me. But without them, VIP should have been $900-1000 and GA $500-600.

I'm going. Anyone else?

The days of celebrations and even possible PP access are drawing shorter.

Ticket sales are clearly so bad they're releasing tickets for the separate events!!

Londell's time is surely up? (We can only hope!)

The prices are out of control. Just because we like Prince we are supposed to not pay rent to keep the "legacy" alive.

If flights from the UK were a little cheaper I’d be tempted to do a pilgrimage to see just the Revolution show at First Avenue, and the basic Paisley Park tour

Nah, legacies die when they're (mis)managed by incompetent estates who slap together half-assed and overpriced annual events just to wring money from fans with FOMO.

Ain't NO way would I pay this much!

$50.00USD at the most for the entire event.

Sooo they think one will pay $780.00 USD and then additional $183.00 USD for Revolution concert and afterparty.....

Add travel to....food....hotel....then would one could be earning while at work....And I'm sure any merchandise is ridiculously priced.

$50? Seriously?

But yes, it is pricey. I splashed out in 2017 and that was a great experience. But I haven't been back since and won't be back this year, mainly due to the overall cost of attending (and I'm in the USA).

I agree with earlier comments that the schedule looks a bit thin. Particularly Sunday and Monday, or if you're not VIP.

Maybe I'm out of touch and didn't realize everything had been ironed out, but I was amused to see Morris Day will be there after the kerfuffle over him using "The Time."

The way i heard things is Morris Day is performing WITH the New Power Generation.

It isn't a Morris shoe and then an NPG show, its both combined. Interesting.

This seems like the kind of thing that should have been planned and finalized earlier than 11 days before the actual event, no? lol

It's probably going to get rained out. Or maybe they thought the rain would add an extra touch! shrug

I'm a little surprised both of the Revolution shows have tickets available less than a week out.

I'm not, $183 per ticket is an insane price. A lot of people simply can't afford to pay that, and the ones who can are probably going to see more relevant modern shows/artists than the backing band who played with Prince 40 years ago.

I saw The Revolution back in 2017 and they put on a good show, but it sure as hell ain't $183 good. And they knew that because those tickets cost only a fraction of what they do now.
