Both lists by fredmagnus and frankieCoco1 are cool...

thanks for that.

-

Since we're going all the way...

What rehearsals would be fun to have (on that imaginable PR SDE)?

Not long full rehearsals, but songs/recordings worth listening to?

-

And why not more music of protégé/related artist of that era?

It would also be nice to have more movie information, how it was made,

behind the scene footage, if that excists, different shots, deleted scenes...

Also looking at Prince Vault for unreleased songs from 1983/early 1984 Electrocution is an unreleased instrumental recorded at some point in 1983 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio. I Know What To Say To You is an unreleased song recorded with Stevie Nicks on 16 July 1983, at the Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The song is sparse and somewhat experimental with only drums from the Linn and layers of synth. My Sex (a.k.a. May I Introduce My Sex To Yours?) is an unreleased song initially likely recorded somewhere in Spring 1983…Jill Jones has said “It was a really cool freaking song and he didn’t want that to come out at all. Ever!” Fox Trap is an unreleased song recorded in 1982 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It is likely…the track was named after The Fox Trap that Prince visited regularly in the late 1970s and early 1980s…the inspiration for a club featured in the Purple Rain movie. Backwards Woman is a composition created for the film Purple Rain, tracked on 8 February 1984…it is the only composition from the score that is written by Prince and not Michel Colombier who did the rest of the score. It is the music used under the scene where Apollonia first visits The Kid's home and presses play on a cassette deck which has a tape with this music playing…about a minute and a half of it is featured in the movie.

I wanna hear these songs!! eek biggrin

Thanks for these additional tracks !

About "My Sex", it sounds unlikely that we could get it in this SDE since it seems it has been lost.

Here's what Jill says about it :

Its initial title was likely May I Introduce My Sex To Yours?. The track was discussed by Jill Jones in an interview in 2021: "We had another song called May I Introduce My Sex To Yours?, but nobody seems to know where this song is with all this stuff. It had a lot of breathings on it, which was like "huh huh!". It was a really cool freaking song and he didn’t want that to come out at all. Ever! I thought there must be a bad memory associated with that or whatever that is about. I’ve asked often about, even with the Estate and they don’t know which one I’m talking about. It could have been around Moral Majority." Musically, it was described as a combination of Devo and Vanity 6.

The song was worked on by Wendy & Lisa in June 1985. In early August 1985, Jill Jones recorded a lead vocal on it (with David Z. supervizing) at Electric Lady Studios, New York, NY, USA, for possible inclusion on her Jill Jones album. At one point was considered to be the title track, as Jill Jones thought it encompassed the album’s theme, but the song was ultimately not included. According to Jones: "It was going to be on my record, but he didn’t want to release it. The lyrics said, ‘I don’t want to know your name, all I want to do is introduce my sex to yours... ’ or something like that. I actually think I told him he should do it. But then, after a while, he started thinking that that kind of stuff was beneath him."

When it comes to unheard rehearsal tracks, it would be cool to hear "Sleazy" recorded in the spring of 1983 with Morris Day & Jesse Johnson : Sleazy - Prince Vault

the purple rain warm-up gig from bogart's, september 23, 1984 is probably about the only thing that would entice me to spend more money on this era.

I would love to see these appear on a BIG SDE :

-

'Computer Blue' the basic tracking for this song

'Unknown Instrumental' recorded in St. Louis Park Warehouse, but after the First Av. benefit concert, together with the basic tracking of Computer Blue.

'I would Die 4 U / Baby I'm A Star' - recorded during a rehearsal with the band (June 21, 1983)

'Be My Hero' - unreleased instruemntal w Wendy & Lisa (Jan. 5, 1984)

'My Sex' or 'May I Introduce My Sex To Yours?'- (by Prince and Jill Jones, being discussed here already)

'Money'- recorded in 1983 with The Revolution

'I Am Five' - recorded (sept.8, 1983), a ''slow hautning blues song, about someone who is very isolated describing how they are perceived.'' (would love to hear that one, autobiographical?)

'Pop Life' - recorded version of of (Feb. 19, 1984)

'Take Me With U' - the fleshed-out idea verison (Jan. 22, 1984)

'Noon Rendez-Vous' - recorded version of (Feb. 13, 1984)

'Let's Go Crazy' - basicidea version recorded in a session (May, 18, 1983 )

'Backwards Woman' - (Feb. 8, 1984)

'I know What To Say To You' - recorded w Stvie Nicks (July, 16, 1983)

'Blue Love' - recorded (Dec. 28, 1983)

'I'm So Confused' - recorded (Oct. 3, 1983)

'The Beautiful Ones' - if this is a different version from the 1st configuration of the PR album (Nov. 7, 1983), (or why not release that whole 1st configuration?)

'Divinity' - recorded (march 26, 19883)

'Electrocution' - instrumental recorded in 1983

-

'The Dawn' - a 15 minute track, recorded Jan 5, 1984)

on a side note, this is interesting information from The Vault about the name of this track :

"the tracks seems to have no direct relation to the song Welcome 2 The Dawn (that at some point was known as The Dawn),

or the planned 1986 musical project The Dawn,

or the planned 1989 movie The Dawn,

or the unreleased 1993 album The Dawn,

or the unreleased 1997 album The Dawn."

"Money" is dated from April-May '82 on VaultCurator's tracker.

Based on this site with a timing of "2:23" : https://chronologicalprin...gspot.com/

On the other hand, Duane's book mentions the tracks briefly saying that song has been recorded during the summer of '83 but he also mentions that (at the time) he couldn't get any information for this track.

So...it seems unlikely to me that we could get it in the forthcoming SDE.

There is so much unreleased stuff from this era! I also recall that there is a slightly longer version of "Darling Nikki", and a few alternate versions of "Computer Blue".If they do it right and dig deep into the vaults, this could be a very satisfying SDE for the fans biggrin

Thank U for putting that straight. wink

Although,

the song "Money" you mention, is a recording intended for The Time.

Could this be another recording, with the same name... ?

We don't know of course..

It's real name is Camille, with a gender issue.

Not 24/7, but 7/4,5. Wednesday afternoon off.

You re so right. They should wait until the 100th anniversary, this or else the 10,000th anniversary. In this day and age to come, no vinyls, no CD, no streaming, the PR SDE will be just a file in a chip put inside your head (or worst).

Haha. My statement is in keeping with this one per year release. If they're gonna slow play it I don't want to be resold the same thing over and over while other projects are being neglected. If it's in addition to other projects fine. I can just skip it. No harm, no foul.
