it should have been in 1st place instead of tied at 3rd

I can't believe 'Purple and Gold' is not in 1st place. I'm assuming people just didn't even listen to it.

"Purple & Gold" is so not interesting. That's what makes it so lame. It's as generic a "fight song" as possible. Like a throwback to "fight songs" when they were first created. If it had a modicum of "interesting" it would be semi-decent.

By the same token it's not really that egregiously bad of a Prince song, it's just generic and uninteresting. It's not like an "oh this is terrible I must hit the track skip" sensation, more of an "...is this it?"

The ones I'm outraged about are "Temptation" (even though fan h8 is old hat on this one), "Take Me with U" (wahhhh Apollonia) and especially "Rainbow Children".

There are a few tracks on HNR1 that are pretty bad.

I can't believe Take Me With U is on any "worst" list.

As for Graffiti Bridge (the song) . . . I don't hate it because I get what he was trying to do. Yes, it's a misfire. But it could have just as easily been a gem if the movie had done better. There's a fine balance when you make a song like that (almost childlike) and he didn't quite nail it.

One song that's not on here that I can't stand is Man In A Uniform.

Ridiculous - Rainbow Children's title track is one of his greatest achievements. If you can't hear that then gtfo.

Prince had a prolific career spanning many genres and styles, so it's not surprising that certain tracks may divide opinions. Ultimately, the beauty of Prince's music lies in its ability to evoke different emotions and reactions from listeners.

Basically, the fanbase's usual list of problems with "The Arms of Orion" apply x100 to "Free". The whole "positivity" sentiment is nice 'ay guess, but I need a little something with a little more bite personally. Like "America" would at least be a little more ambiguous with what he's advocating or whatever.

But for "Free" fans who like preening positivity, there's something positive to extract: "The Arms of Orion" didn't make this list. Very proud of you all. We've truly evolved as a fanbase.

I think it catches flack for the same reason "Rainbow Children" probably did. The "God" vocal effect/character is a little too sacrilegious for his more fervently devout fans. They were fine with him offending middle America prancing around in black panties and high heels singing about eating chicks out but they draw the line at pitch-shifting down a couple octaves.

Take Me With You - A great song on one of the greatest records of the 1980's

Hot Thing - Album version good. Live SOTT version classic. Only people I can see not liking this song are Gen Z puritans

Animal Kingdom - Just the break alone where he sings through the vocorder ( or whatevr it is) makes it better than 80 pct of the funk songs released that year.

Free- Not among his best but, not anywhere near his worst either. This song was basically a warm up for Purple Rain. Prince's first stab at a power ballad. If it took this to get to PR, I'm ok with it.

Temptation - Again, the guitar solo alone makes it worth the price of admission.
