NPG Xmas album - proposed fall 95

https://m.facebook.com/st...0518688188

Housequake on their Facebook page have put up scans of an unreleased NPG Newsletter, likely end of 1994, with Prince’s handwritten changes. Amongst the nuggets of information, is “…stay tuned 4 the first NPG Xmas Album coming fall 95 and featuring various NPG artists”. Thanks to an eagle-eyed person on Facebook pointing this out.

Was this just an idea or could there have been some content lined up for it that remains in the vault?
There may or may not be something coming!

.

Yet another case of famz not properly crediting their source (in this case HQ is the problem): those are from an ongoing auction.

What does that have to do with the question in the thread?

Do you ever give this schtick a rest?

From the front page of the forums, “When posting media reports/new release info, please provide a link to the source where you first saw that information.”

Can’t you just ever thank the poster, then gracefully put the link or source? You have such a wealth of knowledge, please use it in nice way. It’ll get you far being kinder. All the best.

Andy Allo's, "This Christmas" EP, not related to the NPG that I know of, but sounds great, I could see the NPG Christmas album maybe going along those lines, would love to hear it.

Also interesting: There were obviously also plans for an album by Derick Hughes ("Thousand hugs and kisses") and early recordings with Ashley "Tamar" Davis when she was only 15 years old in 1994.

"Snowman" with Nona Gaye springs to mind right away. Probably the idea was to make another hodgepodge album like 1-800 New Funk but Christmas-themed. Thank God that never happened.

"On Your Own" is a catchy little pop song.

I would genuinely love a Prince-related Xmas album. And I figure it would be like 'Batman' where it's just straight up usual funky Prince with maybe .5 seconds of a Santa Claus namedrop or something in there, but it would be cool.

Why Prince never made a full chirstmas album... I don't get it.

His balads are super sweet smooth and soft sometimes, tbh.

Then again, he probably would pull the funk over it here and there.

Now, Funk & Christmas are... difficult.

James Brown tried it...

Right?

yeah I expect more of a funky christmas styling. Santa coming down the chimney to funk up your party.

Maybe he could make a sex jam out of xxxmas or something,

He'd probably include maybe one ballad but probably not the usual Christmas fare.

James' "Funky Xmas" album is pretty hittin'. P probably could have pulled it off in the mid to late 80's.

I heard there's a mid 90s vault track called Snowman, that's not the song Nona Gaye recorded... A likely contender for the NPG Xmas album, if true!

(In fact, either song would be a contender)

I'm glad we didn't get a 94 era Prince Christmas album.
