Yeah, I also see the shipping label has been created -- is this set really shipping this soon? Glad I didn't pre-order a SDE in the same order!

The same happened 2 me with the site lagging and sudden "sold out" on the singles box. So, I abandoned my entire shopping cart, which was up over $1000 of various D&P formats and merch. Now, I've decided 2 buy nothing D&P from the Prince.com store and just buy the D&P SDE from Amazon, skipping all the other formats too. I'm even thinking of selling my SOTT singles box set, as it will be orphaned without the D&P singles box set.

The Estate could have figured out a fun and fair way 2 allow the fans 2 secure the box set, rather than letting the speculators with multiple credit cards simply buy up all the copies in the middle of a work day. Something like a pre-registration code 2 be able 2 buy it, or only putting up 200 copies per day at noon each day until all copies were sold. At least with the SOTT singles box, Third Man Records was also selling some copies.

with all the Mr. Crabs "money, money, money" talk around here in relation to how the Estate must do things this just seems like them wasting potential $.

Maybe they need like an old-school e-mail list or even mailing list? I like your code idea. The most intense fans definitely deserve a code. Like pre-sale codes that get mailed out to the most dedicated fans for a concert. Pre-sale alottment, then a regular sale alottment.

And I get these only/always sell like hot cakes because they're limited, but there's gotta be a happy medium here. Sometimes they make moves to clearly maximize profit, other times like this they're just blatantly leaving money on the table. Surely you're not the only Prince fan that was actively shut down from spending $$$ on more Prince.

This is nothing more than a temper tantrum. A fun and fair way?? The only reason you don't think it was fair is because you didn't get one. I guarantee if you got one, then it would have been totally fun and fair, even if there were others that didn't get it. Fair was posting about it on multiple social media platforms for the entire world that was following them to see. They even made a post a couple days prior to the announcement letting the world know the exact date to check back in, but that still wasn't fair enough for you. Furthermore, they at least improved on the SOTT box release by not allowing people to buy an unlimited quantity for a lower price than what this D&P set went for. But nope, still not fair for you. I've been a fan since the early 80s and have missed out on plenty of limited things and events during that time, but I would never see myself whining about it like this and saying it wasn't fair. You should definitely sell your SOTT box set to complete the temper tantrum.I'm not a fan of a lot of the decisions coming from the estate, but this is ridiculous.

I did not have a "temper tantrum" on Thursday, when this happened 2 me with my cart at Prince.com. I had seen the Twitter post about an announcement for Thursday, so I set an Outlook reminder 4 myself 2 check the Store that day. They did not say exactly what time the announcement would be made, so I literally checked at midnight Central Time, then again when I woke up in the morning, and then at my lunch break. Cool, so then the D&P items were finally available and I started building a cart with all kinds of new D&P items. When I went 2 pay, that is when the Singles Set was stripped out of my cart with some kind of "Out of Stock" message. I was not screaming. I was not swearing. No tantrum. I just became uninspired 2 buy any D&P merch from them in the heat of the moment if there wasn't a fans incentive like the Singles Set, so I abandoned the whole cart. After that, I did keep checking in on the store, calmly, on and off that evening in case any copies became available due 2 order cancelations etc., but none came up. I did not send their Customer Service a cunty email 2 complain and beg, so again, no tantrum on my part. They could have made it a fun pre-order day with a promo code, a contest, or a pre-registration code 4 the fans checking social media and Store emails. That could have created greater excitement about the whole gamut of D&P releases and rewarded the hard-core fans with access 2 an exclusive item.

on the Prince music today site it said that it was "Limited to one unit per customer", was this followed through or were people able to order multiple copies?

One person on this thread has suggested that they bought two, and there are sellers with multiple copies selling on ebay at the moment (I know, I overpaid and bought one lol )

If this is being limited to one per customer, clearly people have been able to get aroud the limit very easily.

I think it was fair enough. You could only buy one copy, that's true. Unless you would have two different accounts on the Prince shop, with two email accounts, etc. All of that would have had to be set up prior to the sale.
I got my copy only because I used a link posted on Prince org because it was not showing in the shop yet. I guess in the long term, they can do something like a verified fan list, like Taylor Swift is doing for her fans to buy a concert ticket. I know because I'm a registered fan for my 13 yo daughter, lol. The tickets still sell out in minutes, and people still say it's not fair. I guess it's luck in these situations. I missed the SOTT singles because I slept on it for a minute, and they were gone.

I got one from Paisley Park last night at the dance party. They had about 50 out, not sure if they had more in the back. I didn't ask. I couldn't really find any with good numbers, so I picked 1091, for October 1991, the release date.

I was at the Paisley Park dance party last night, too! I saw the D&P 7" single sets for sale. The packaging is really top notch. The sets looked amazing. But I'm not a vinyl guy, so I didn't buy one.

I bought one of these sets, but I really resent paying the extortionate tax and international shipping on it.

The official Prince website is very poor in that sense. Whenever I have the chance, I always buy from other sellers...it's quicker and a lot cheaper (sadly).

Great to see copy after copy after copy of this on eBay. You can always trust Prince fans to try and rip off other Prince fans.

I get both sides, people buying multiple with different accounts etc purely to make bank that's pretty harsh, but there are also Prince fans that don't have a pot to piss in and buying this set would mean financial problems simply don't allow, where if they bought the singles then sold that set they could then sell that hopefully to a wealthy P-fan that sees no issue spending the $400 on a set that was $130 a few days ago and then purchase the SDE, That to me is not a fan ripping off a fan but rather a fan doing what they can to support these releases enjoy the content and keep their bills paid, whilst also giving the fanatic collector a chance to get the set they desire

It's not just Prince fans, it's just slimy people in general. As I posted earlier in this thread, KISS (Universal really) put out a picture disc limited to 500 copies. They allowed 4 to a person (which really should have been 1 to a person). It was listed in the store before the alert went out. Sold out in under an hour and you saw them immediately on eBay for 3-4 times the price.

Mine too, received that already five days ago.

But according to the tracking number I still see no movement whatsoever.

Another Estate mistake?

LOL how cute of you to assume anyone outside the Prince bubble gives a crap about, or even knows about releases like these. It's Prince 'fans'.

I ordered mine within a couple of minutes of it going live. Gorgeous packaging. I was also fortunate enough to snag a SOTT singles set (#118/1987).

It's a cool thing to have, i guess.

Did you guys put in some kind of plexiglass shrine thing?

I always wanted to frame all of my vinyl Prince albums on the wall in chronological order, including 12" singles mixed in, up to 1989.

It's all still in the attic...
