Are not the Gett Off (Damn Near 10 Min.) and Insatiable (Early Mix - Full Version)?

The original Gett Off for the album was a slightly longer version of the video version but shorter than the Purple Pump mix version (that one also isn't on there).
The birthday promo 12 inch mix is what we are getting and that one is a the early version of the track.
I expect the Instatiable version to be the one from 'Beginnings' and not the one from the earlier sequence.

.

I understand. To be honest, I will be a minority, I have a little little interest in all the alternate version of alternate version of a song (hyperbole). I'm more interested in outtakes or Prince version of released songs by other artist (so, I'm crying inside for I Hear Ur Voice).

Having said that, D&P is one of my least loved prince records and the compromise that the Estate made between the inclusion of unreleased tracks and the number of vinyls seems to me not perfect, but dignified.

I don't know what the "new Estate" will want to do, but doubling down on box sets with only Vault material and SDE with live only, alternate versions and remixes would be very welcome.

I am not a big fan of this album or era...but seeing the SDE and all its goodies, I am pretty excited for this. BTW, I have no way to rip the audio off of a bluray so happy to see the CD for the Glam Slam show! One last thought...I also seemed to be one of the few that like Thunder.

I Wonder and Player. Strangely omitted
Yes it's really a shame, lots of tracks are missing and it was the same with 1999 and SOTT SDE. But the tracklist looks great cuz there's a few songs I haven't heard and I'm glad Standing At The Alter is on it.

I would like think these "omitted" tracks will be released on a vault series, Extraloveable, I Wonder, Player, I Lust You Always, etc as that;s the only way a vault series would work having some stellar material on them not just a collection of throwaway jams and stragglers

Strange ommision though is Gett offs cousin, unless that tied to Symbol era

Ah damn. Weird to choose that one instead of the one slated for the album.
I secretly hope they'll do remasters of Cream and Gett Off EP's for record store day (also on CD) just to complete the set with all original the releases remeastered.

So disc 6 and 7 are basically completely unnecessary/pretty much duplicates of what you get on disc 8. Actually slightly inferior since blu rays probably handle a higher bitrate than CD.

Probably unnecessary for most people but extremely useful for me. I like listening to live stuff in my car or on my earphones when I'm on the bus. I can't really do that with a DVD. I actually wish they had released the audio from the Welcome To America DVD on a CD.

I'll second that! Out of the entire Welcome 2 America package, the thing I like listening to the most
is that great, long performances of "17 Days". I wish I had just the audio for that.

It's a bit of a shame they decided not to include "Dream". That track isn't even documented on PrinceVault - an early 90s ballad, with a linndrum. Amazing. But, it's not on here, along with a whole heap of other tracks they considered for the set.

They also didn't include the unreleased 12" of "Willing & Able".

Having said that, there's a good amount of decent content on here. Cream is an interesting version - a kind of lazy cocal with a compltely different mix. The extended D&P is also quite nice - from what I recall, it's a slightly different mix from the album.

[Edited 8/24/23 5:17am]

according to princevault, laurianne and dream were recorded on the same day and are the only
two that remain unreleased so far. could it be that dream = darkside?

Just rip the audio, it isn't that hard.

I would if I could. But I have no way of doing that.

Somebody would do it for you and somebody would link you somewhere out there.

It's a waste of two discs that exponentially increase the price of the set for no other reason than mere convenience... CD versions of Blu Ray could be a nice separate item ancillary deal because you do show there is apparent demand.

Like to not include all the mixes when there's a whoooole pile of space on this duplicate show's second disc... maybe this relates to some more vinyl count fuzzy math, so omit those from the stupid vinyl then and give the CD crowd all the mixes, at least they'll be archived somewhere. Estate's getting me to resent vinyl now. I've been team vinyl-resurgence for decades, but if we're predicating the composition and omissions of these SDE's on the neckbeard Crosley contingent this format may have finally overstayed its welcome.

Also I did the math:

2 repeat discs, so 8-2, then we round off to 5 discs because only 12 minutes mo vault.

$350 / 5 = 70 bucks a disc.

...How many holograms are included in the set again?

darkside
blood on the sheets
the last dance
trouble
alice through the looking glass
I pledge allegiance to your love

also, "streetwalker" is a track I have never heard. it's one of the rosie gaines demo tracks
but i can't remember if it leaked. I don't think I have it anyway, searched most discs for it
by now.

i think they made an error on W2A....that show should have had an Audio cd....that performance of Play That Funky Music needed a mix to 2 channel stereo.....

The ability to rip or not rip the Blu Ray is missing the point. The point is we essentially got two complete full length jumbo concerts last go, now we get one full length concert spread over 3 discs, with additional live appearances on the blu-ray. It's unnecessarily lowering the bar to why would they even bother giving us 2-for-1 ever again if this satiates/satisfies us?

My mistake - I didn't realise it was on PrinceVault. The date they have listed makes sense, since I heard some other things from Love Symbol as well. Hopefully it gets a release.

Despite your protestation regarding someone supplying a link to a public site, no-one in this thread to date has quoted the description that was published on the French Amazon site (and which, as I type, is still published on at least one other Amazon site). I too am not sure how a person whose name was included in the description would feel about its premature disclosure, but you chose to (mis)publish her name here.

.
I did copy the French Amazon's product description here but let's get something clear: once something is published on Amazon (or any other huge site with a reach of hundreds of millions), it IS published and stops being confidential, period.
Crying about this is childish.

It is damaging to an organisation that the announcement is taken away from them. It would have been polite and respectful to keep the details private. It was my point.

Again, it's a losing game.

Plus you can't blame Prince fans. The last SDE box set was released in 2020. Three. Years. Ago.
