3 Songs you Didn't know Sheila E. Wrote for Prince 1. “Noon Rendezvous”Written by Prince, Sheila E. Prince and Sheila E. collaborated on this track all about sex. The beat for “Noon Rendezvous” begins and then quickly speeds up almost like the heart of someone engaged in some physical activity. This song was released on Prince’s posthumous album, Originals. The songs on the record come from Prince’s early 1980s catalog. “Noon Rendezvous” was released on Sheila E.’s 1984 album, The Glamorous Life, but it was written for the Purple One prior to that. 2. “Holly Rock”Written by Prince, Sheila E. “Holly Rock” is another track from the two artists that landed on Prince’s posthumous Originals album. This song was written and produced by Prince and written by Sheila E. The song was first released on the soundtrack for the 1985 movie, Krush Groove. On it, Sheila E. raps over energetic percussion. On the Prince demo, recorded in the early ’80s 3. “Dear Michaelangelo”Written by Prince, Sheila E. The third on this trifecta of songs written by the two, “Dear Michaelangelo” also appeared on Prince’s Originals LP. Prior to that, Sheila recorded a rendition for her 1985 Romance 1600 LP, on which Prince also appeared. This song features frenetic percussion and some signature Prince synths. Prince’s offering includes him at his peak, alluring and in control at all times. This song could easily have been on Purple Rain. 3 Songs You Didn't Know S...riter.com) [Edited 8/17/23 18:27pm]

Y'all know Prince wrote these songs with little help. Regardless Sheila is one of the world's greatest percussionists. Not bad for a girl or a boy. [Edited 8/17/23 19:10pm] [Edited 8/17/23 19:11pm]

I'd be very very surprised if Sheila had much input on these if any.... maybe she baked him some lemon cake while she wrote them

ive a feeling their relationship fuelled these songs. so even if she didnt write any of them (who knows though), she inspired them.

Despite her claims to practically inventing Prince, Sheila ain't wrote shit. She sure didn't write those songs. And the thing is, she'll never correct the article because it serves her purposes better than telling the truth. I cannot deal with her anymore. She's just disappointing, arrogant, and over-estimated her role here. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

"I've been wondering what to wear, I love our noon rendezvous" I don't know if Sheila wrote that one though, in that rehearsal (the one where he sings "sitting in this cafe waiting on my baby), he dedicates the song to Sheila.

Yep but this is how Sheila plays these days. According to Sheila she's the bomb and makes the best lemon cake. She will never stop this crap.

plz. what's next, Apollonia describing her inspiration for the "Sex Shooter" lyrics?

I srsly doubt that. Prince probably told her that, though, like he told every girl he ever dated "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" was about them.

ALL of THIS Thank you for putting it much better than I could.

My fav is when casual fans aren't familiar with Mayte or Mani, but they're like "and Prince married Sheila E.!.., or they were engaged for awhile, or something..." [Edited 8/18/23 19:27pm]

Weird article. They picked 3 Sheila songs from Originals and worded it to make it seem Sheila wrote them originally for/with Prince before they were on her album. Odd.

If it wasn't on an apparent official/professional-looking songwriters website I'd say they're clearly trying to troll the fans and stir up the fanbase, but their reporting of her "credits" seems to be completely in earnest.

I like when people imply some of these girls gotta be lying, like when Susannah says "Nothing Compares 2 U" or "Strange Relationship" was about her. [Edited 8/21/23 20:30pm]

It was written about/for his housekeeper Sandy Scipioni, according to Susan Rogers:

When I look up on Google the lyrics to Noon Rendevous for instance, it says written by either "Sheila E", or "Prince & Sheila E".
The lyrics are a bit confusing as some seem like Prince's, and others seem like something a woman might say. (Ive been wodnering what to wear).
Does that mean "I Love You But I Don't Trust You Anymore" (genders changing here too) was written by Prince & someone else? No one's claimed it.

"If a girl answers" is so funny ! He had a lot of fun during that time when he was hanging out with Vanity 6, Morris and Jerome, pre-Purple rain. [Edited 8/23/23 15:26pm]

Back on a Member’s Q & A chat with Sheila E 20 years ago in the NPGMC, I quizzed her on some of the lyrics in her first album. She didn’t have a clue. Wrote bugger all.
