When you heard Prince's low register voice for the first time For those who remember, how did you react when you heard Prince's low register voice for the first time? Did it surprised you? Were you glad he did it finally? This is for those who were fans from the beginning of Prince's career, or for anybody else who have heard his voice with the low register for the first time.

First time it really striked me was when he sang together with Sheila E. on “Yellow”. (Romance 1600 album). So sexy https://music.youtube.com...bAfUOatTwQ

You hear it in "Soft and Wet". But the speaking voice, a bit raspy, always intrigued. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I remember the first time it really threw me for a loop was on "I Love U In Me." It was the whole song and I loved every minute of it.

Like most Brits, the When Doves Cry vocals. I dare say some true music aficionados heard it earlier but I think this is when I first heard Prince as he was 'under the radar' until 1984 in the UK. Well, I was only 14 and not related to John Peel 😅

. My first album was Parade, so Sometimes It Snow in April amazed me, so different from Kiss

As someone who really wasn't a fan of him vocally when I got into him: his different registers, but his lower especially was part of what convinced me of his talent because he could like... almost will an "okay" voice to be as diverse and earnest as his material itself.

The falsetto is what turned a lot of ppl, guys esp, off prince id say. You had falsetto singers before, but he went that bit extra (higher, thinner).
