Just had a look on PrinceVault and it says the song "contains samples of Ray Charles playing the piano from a popular Pepsi commercial" and "uses the drink's slogan as part of the chorus". Going off this I would say the song came AFTER as it samples the piano from the advert. Hope this helps!! eye dont think U heard me . . .

things are very hazy, especially these unimporant details, but I think he did have a coca cola sponsorship for a tour somewhere early to mid 90's. Since with cola I only imagine Coca Cola, it might have well been Pepsi and my mind altered it. . Whether it was a full-on sponsorship of the tour or only a few stops along the way, I don't remember, I do remember seeing a sponsor, it stood out. . Then again, the details are extremely hazy. Hope this isn’t just the power of suggestion, but I now recall a Coke sponsorship too, around D&P or Act 1 tour in the UK. Late 91 to 93?

Certainly sponsored by Coke for the Act II tour in 1993 https://princevault.com/i...LONDON.jpg Edit: And Coke were a sponsor in at least the Australia section of the D&P tour in 1992 https://princevault.com/i...April_1992 [Edited 7/25/23 10:53am] Edit: But Pepsi did present Prince on at least this Jam of the Year show in 1997 https://princevault.com/i..._July_1997 [Edited 7/25/23 11:10am] There may or may not be something coming!
