‘Prince Reimagined’ show at Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield

https://www.thelbt.org/wh...eimagined/

Anyone in the Huddersfield area, Yorkshire, England might be interested in this event at the LBT on Sunday 6th August 2023.

“In this unique show…Prince’s songs [will be] played live by incredible musicians who have reimagined them into diverse and exciting musical genres. Punctuated through the show will be moments of fans tales of their connection and memories of Prince, how he touched them in their lives. This evening will be a true tribute of the iconic musician.”

Also mentioned here:

(Should this be in the fan gatherings forum?)
There may or may not be something coming!

The people look boring.

It's Prince for crying out loud, I expect some edgy looking folks.

I second that. I don't care to hear other people play or sing Prince's music. And how he touched them - who cares. He touched all of us, and unless they have a very interesting personal story, it's not relevant to the public.

The only reason that CBS Grammys Salutes Prince special was any good was because The Revolution played, despite the grieving widow Sheila's objection. Not because everyone else got up there and butchered his songs.

Prince fans: Wanting the world to acknowledge his legacy, then complaining when they do.

I'd go if I was closer. It'd be cool to hear a couple of rehearsal snippets.

this is fine, its just a tribute. unless you guys hate tribute acts too.

id rather see this, fans playing his music, than fans going on stage to dance at one of his concerts. that was always a cringe moment at the later shows.

As a concept it seems like a great idea. It is very nice that the legacy of an artist lasts in the people and events like this are held, anywhere in the world. It is also interesting from a purely musical perspective, to see bands and performers who show their vision and respect for Prince's work and who also give voice and platform to testimonials or stories from, I repeat, people, touched in one way or another by his vast cultural legacy.

Then, you may like it more or less, of course no one forces you to attend and I think it is unfair to dump criticism as harsh as the ones I read.

I imagine that the frustration must come from the current painful situation of the management of the state and the official treatment of his work, which of course I share. But they are incomparable situations.

It's just not fair.

Sometimes I think hardcore Prince fans are the biggest detriment to his legacy other than the bozos currently running the estate. There's literally nothing that anyone can do to celebrate Prince that is good enough for the gatekeepers here

Eh this take is just a self-esteem thing. There's stuff they could do, they're just not trying hard enough. We're like Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You.

This part was the most offensive.

Like wtf, Prince stuff wasn't already "diverse and exciting"?

Once again you take everything in bad faith and assume the absolute worse from an innocuous comment that wasn't even a dig at Prince or his music.
