What you could do, is use the single version of I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man,

HANDS OFF ICNTTPOYM!

I can never understand people who prefer the single edit. That whole breakdown is good enough on its own to warrant inclusion, and the way the hook comes triumphantly back in at the end is one of the finest moments on any prince record, IMHO.

Please tell me I'm not alone in my delusions???

Not alone and not delusional. I completely agree. nod
I'm wild with anticipation all throughout the exquisite breakdown, and when that fierce-ass hook comes crashing back through, I absolutely cream my pants.

I always thought Slow Love was the weakest track on Sign.

Take off "It's Gonna B A Beautiful Night" . . . it doesn't "flow" with the rest of the CD.

It's the only "live" track . . .

"U Got the Look" doesn't really fit the album so I think I would get rid of it. That single was so good though, it almost didn't need an album. It would have been a great one off!

"Beautiful Night" doesn't flow, but the "Can't nobody fuck with us..." riff is crazy! You can't lose that!

p.s. Watchthemfall, that's "drink in her hand" right?

I was never particularly fond of "ICNTTPOYM", so I feel the version on SOTT really overstays its welcome. As someone else suggested, I would use the single edit instead (if I kept the song at all).

My favorite tracks on the album are "Starfish and Coffee" and "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker", making them definite keepers.

Burn a second disc. It's like leaving one of the children home, 'cause you wanted to spend a little more on your hair.
Dig?

I don't generally play the whole album anymore when I want to hear a few songs. They can make you feel differently at different times though. I don't play You Got The Look anymore. Although I know I played it about a thousand times over and over when the album came out. That guitar hook kept me there.

Some of you are loony - if you can't get into Slow Love, Hot Thing, It or Forever In My Life, you just ain't sexy!!! evillol

It would have been a shame to leave off any song, so I'm glad you didn't smile But the only suitable song to even contemplate leaving off that near perfect album is Play In the Sunshine, everybody knows that... wink

Now you're loony for picking Play in the Sunshine razz
I adore that song.
