out of everything in music the oasis haters (maybe the people who falsely claim they hate the beatles too) are the dumbest. supersonic is one of the greatest pop songs ever written.

the thing is, you insist you are a man of facts, like you are some sort of NPG music rights lawyer, but you have no facts to support either argument, i.e. its just my opinion vs yours. there is nothing to support anything you say objectively, just your humourless posting. i at least attempted to give you something in the way of analysis, but you just ignored it. i will post it again, for your benefit. (unnecessary and already disputed repeats deleted)

Again you are making up shit that I never said. Nothing I said was about rights. This discussion has never been about whether Noel could claim Prince copied him.

The facts that you have been unable to address are that you were found out as clearly wrong about Gold lyrics being really quite noel/oasis like. Gold was recorded long before Prince could have heard them. Besides, there is no similarity in lyrics exceot they are in English. Not only does Gold precede any Oasis garbage, but Gold draws on themes in Prince's work from several songs over the many years prior to Oasis releasing anything.

The other fact you could address is your unsubstantiated claim that Prince "devoured" Oasis' music. It is a simple fact that there is no factual evidence of this.

I had already listened to these songs when you made the spurious claim - You already admitted when no one else could hear the imagined similarity that the style, notes, chords etc are distinctly different. The vocal tones and effects are different. All you can point to is the length of the some last notes in the lines - which are also not the same. You admitted in post #17 that the similarity is not apparent. going over it again is not going to convince anyone.

you silly, silly man

do you, sir, do you.

There is no objective measure of what make any person love or loath any song. It is not a measure of dumbness - You should know this.

Do you really think your opinion on any song has any influence on any other person - even if there a large number of people that agree with you? Do you know nothing about the divide between Oasis and their fans and Blur and theirs? Note, this is within people who liked broadly the same genre, let alone the vast majority of people worldwide who were not into either band or that form of Britpop.

That has no impact at all on the fact that there was a strong divide between Oasis fans and Blur fans. It does not mean people are dumb to not agree with you on the quality of Oasis songs.

You are destroying what little integrity you have left because you have already stated that you don't believe funkbabyandthebabysitter's thesis. You just enjoy seeking to be a cyberbully - It is good that you are simply no good at it.

[Edited 7/15/23 6:25am]

I dont think P was influenced by Oasis, so we agree on that premise only...but i COMPLETELY agree with what Funkybaby said in regards to your ORG input, as i have told you before about your propensity to be anal retentive and your incessantly long winded blabberings...with that said, carry on

If you cannot add anything to a thread, don't bother replying.

This thread would have been over long ago except funkybabyandthebabysitters cannot accept that we don't agree to the point of their thread. What you told me was that I should backdown and just go away when LoveGalore used online sexual abuse tactics to shut people up who disagreed with him. You also tried to make a point about some of my posts being longer than 2 paragraphs - whilst never making the same point about other even longer posts. Last I checked you are not the Org's keeper of morals and post lengths.

Wow...LoveGalore hasnt been here in ages and youre still holding onto some kind of self-inflicted emotional trauma from his org replies...ive never before witnessed this type of online human fragility...you cant accept differing opinions...you cant take a joke...you seem to have zero social skills...you are short sighted and long winded...you seem like the type of person that would call the police if someone got on the express line at the grocery store, with more than 10 items...but with all that said, i find your contributions to the org to be a good source of unintentional comedy....keep going

something you 'prince would never like a group like oasis!' orgers might like to note: when prince took over the dj booth at madison garden in 1986 during the parade tour, what record did he choose to play? was it some avant garde modern classical piece? was it a progressive art-pop record? was it some obscure hard funk 45? no, it was venus by banarama. BANANARAMA. razz lol biggrin obv im not saying oasis and bananarama are similar, but its worth remembering that the guy liked all kinds of records. not just ones by 'cool' artists.

Or in other words, you still cannot find any facts that support that Prince was influenced by Oasis. You keep missing the point - there is a huge difference between what a person listens to and what they are influenced by.

I am referring to your hurt at his absense as expressed when you were defending what is an actual criminal offense in many countries and one that could have put Prince.org at risk if they had not acted to remove LoveGalore.

And when did you do this? It was not ages ago - You started on 16 June 2023 and continued until 22nd June 2023. It is only the 15th of July 2023 now. You could not accept that people being harrassed away from this site is not a joke - it is not just a different opinion - It is not something as irrelevant as having too many items in the express lane. Several men and women were chased from this site by LoveGalore's "fun" tactics to silence opposition to his opinions.

But back to the topic - I can and do accept that funkybabyandthebabysitters has a different opinion on whether Prince was influenced by Oasis. It is not me who keeps on coming back to argue against things I did not say or with new posts to keep it going like the one just now on Banarama.

Prince played Bananarama, ok, so??? Did he have in his mind Oasis while he was writing White Mansion? Honestly, I do not think so, you can have a different opinion of course, but - hell - this connection for me is a bit of a stretch.

We can establish facts based on influences that are documented and studied.

And then we can play. And who knows, after this we might be right or wrong, but looking for the empirical here just takes the fun out of it.

Personally, I've always fantasized about the unstated influences on Prince (or as yet unproven, but again that doesn't matter) by artists like Tom Waits, Frank Zappa or Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Has that ever been played here in a thread?

If not, someone open the bottle of champagne before I have time (and I don't have much, I'm afraid) to do so 🤟

In order of likelihood I would say of the people so far in this thread:

Beatles
Zappa
YMO
Tom Waits
Daman Albarn/Blur
...
Bananarama
...
...
...
...
...
...
Oasis

sometimes the influence is unconscious. the artist is not aware themselves. sometimes they are. sometimes they know and dont admit it. sometimes they do. look at the recent ed sheeran case where he was accused of plagiarising marvin gaye.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/may/04/ed-sheeran-verdict-not-liable-copyright-lawsuit-marvin-gaye

'listening' to someone and 'being influenced by' them are in theory two separate things, but in practice, its not always that clear.

the idea of objectively knowing who and who didnt influence prince is easy if you only talk about artists he himself mentioned, but what about those he didnt? i mean he wouldnt even admit the input of his own bandmates and collaborators on songs like kiss for example. what makes you think he would admit others?

sometimes its just a (hopefully fun) game of guesswork.

the idea of objectively proving and disproving is somewhat murkier with an artist like prince who was never that transparent.

A "not apparent" influence is not unconcious, outside of the mind of the person who imagines it, it is simply not there - neither objectively nor subjectively.

Obviously the influence is always going to be a mix of objective and subjective considerations - But in both cases, the consideration should reflect something that is clearly or, at least, apparently present.

Please note you are still making up shit I did not say. I never said that influence is only present if the artist says so. I never said it must be objectively measurable.

Apparently I do, but I do it so well, it is like it is me doing it.

I will keep on doing me until you realise you don't have to keep on imagining I said Prince must mention his influences before we can accept them as influences.

It was Am3121 who used Prince mentioning George Clinton as an influence as proof of an influence, not me. However, as you, sir, do you, you never let facts get in the way of your arguments.

There is an easy cure and I don't have to do a thing.

All it takes is for you understand that Post #18 is before Post #19. Once you do this, the next step is for you to realise that your misinterpretations and false accusations are not on me. Once you can see this the narcissism will end. I know this is tedious but I have hopes for you.

Or you could just realise that the topic ended long ago and, once again, support for your thesis was not apparant. If you pose your opinions as questions, you need to understand that not everyone will worship that opinion at your feet, indeed sometimes no one will.
