Prince’s 1994 Interactive PC game was released as a set with Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective So there used to be a PC game I played as a child in the 1990s called Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. They were full-motion video games where you "visit" suspects (watch video clips) to gather clues to solve mysteries. There were three volumes, or three games.
These games were sometimes sold as a set with Prince's 1994 Interactive PC game. In an interview, one of the creators of the Sherlock Holmes games said he contacted Prince's production company to help release the games.
The Sherlock Holmes games were made in Minneapolis, same city where Prince lived.
Anyone know more info on this? A combined set of Sherlock Holmes and Prince games sounds kinda bizarre. [Edited 7/16/23 19:23pm] |

I know that I think I recall obtaining my copy in a 10-pack of PC CD games from Office Max.
And I know that I still have my copy.
And I know that they probably packaged those 10-packs very randomly so to be concerned about the Sherlock Holmes CD probably isn't necessary in the grand scheme of things.

LIKE the EMANCIPATION CD?
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Maybe that's more important than the "Interactive Symbol" CD, although I really enjoyed playing that with its whole adjust the zoom on the screen in order to get it to work correctly glitch.
aka "Resolution of Happiness" (phrase I just borrowed from the INXS song "Don't Change")

I know I'm posting extra on this thread but I am really glad that I have my Interactive CD. Anyway, I wonder if by stating "these games were sometimes sold as a set with Prince's 1994 Interactive PC game". Maybe as a "set" they used similiar programming and by set it refers to a movie set. It wouldn't surprise me, as I believe Prince and/or his production company was more savvy and ahead of its time than people probably recognize or consider. Now I want the Sherlock Holmes games. I'm such a geek.

What I mean by "set" is a collection of PC games sold together for a discount price. Like bundles, if you will. Both Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective Vol. 1-3 and Interactive were created, filmed and put together in Minneapolis. Maybe both games did use similar programming.
So yeah, one of the creators of Sherlock Holmes did a YT interview and said, because their small company ICOM SIMULATIONS were looking for a distributor, they contacted Prince's production company as an option. |

Oh, the Sherlock Holmes games are fun. If you like mysteries and/ or have a fondness for early 90s computer games with fuzzy pixels, playing the games can be charming. The acting is hilarious - the actors had to stand very still in each video clip ("visiting suspects to get clues") as to not mess up the pixels during filming/ programming and stuff up data on CD ROMs.
One of the mysteries is The Mummy Murders, where three men died (one in Egypt, one on a ship on sea, and one in London) and the public believes it is the curse of an ancient 4000 year old mummy. Holmes believes the murderer is a "much younger chap" and sets out to find the murderer and motive. [Edited 7/16/23 23:48pm] |

My dad ordered this for me as part of a $99 CD program bundle . . . where it was bundled with other low-ranking games and programs such as bookkeeping and such.
He knew I wanted that disc, and surprised me with it the next time I was over at his house. I have no idea what he did with all of the other discs in the bundle.
That was a long time ago! Coming up on 30 years ago. I still have the disc, mostly for nostalgia. It of course doesn't play on any OS anymore, but you can get in the folder structure and hear songs and watch low-res videos! |

I believe the PC game disc also has the audio track Interactive as well. Just pop in the disc on a cd player and it should play. [Edited 7/17/23 6:05am]

would be cool if the games had a crossover where sherlock could solve prince murder by examining clues left at paisley park and in lyrics to unreleased songs |

As a matter of fact I'm playing it right now on a ROG Ally 😁 |

Why not Dr Fink or Tommy Barbarella as the sidekick? |

The original ones do - mine does not. I think they stripped off that feature to bring the price down?

i guess a white sidekick would be in the 48 hours/lethal weapon black/white buddy duo tradition.
but its 2023, maybe a female sidekick/watson figure would be best.
i vote for rosie gaines. she could sing all her replies at full level 10 aretha pelt. |
