I just thought about that this morning. Then I realized it's more from the "After 6 Long Mix" from the maxi-CD. It's almost a cross between the two - Eb and album version.

I don't know what key the original on the album is in, but I'd be interested to hear the Eb version pitched up to that key for the heck of it.

As I was reading about the song, this came up:

In an 2017 retrospective review, Andy Healy from Albumism named the song a "standout" from the album... He added, "Not to mention the cryptic lyrics—is he singing about the seven deadly sins, the seven seals of Revelations, the seven major religions or the seven major record labels."

I thought that was rather interesting. Was Prince just dabbling in numerology (as someone else noted), or was it just that 7 is a very biblical number of completion and perfection? Or was it both? Was it just Prince trying to be more Prince on a record? We'll never really know, but that's sort of the fun of the song's wake, is the eternal speculation.

I mean - it's no "You're So Vain" that still has people truly guessing, but still.

but at the very least it should also be 2Gether instead of Together.
