Nothing is weird about! It's one the greatest albums ever released. I'm referring to whatever weird joke was or insight was implied earlier with the "nice one" blurb. SOTT is sublime! [Edited 8/11/23 14:34pm]

It's a "nice one" because he voiced disapproval for the religiousity of "amen" and then Orion immediately came in with the heavy all-caps emphasis "AMEN," like "I dgaf you dgaf about religiosity."

I'd even eliminate "One Of." It's the best album ever.

Amen to that. Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

But should beautiful night have been the last song as in the film rather than adore??? Bit like purple rain. Baby im a star or purple rain. Go out on a big slow note or a fast fun one?

[Edited 8/11/23 19:16pm] [Edited 8/11/23 19:16pm] Nah...thats not even close to the truth at all...My use of capital letters had absolutely nothing to do with that comment about "religiousity"...i used capitals to reflect how strongly i agreed with SOTT being one of the greatest albums ever...yall are sometimes overthinking this stuff forreal [Edited 8/12/23 3:24am]

From the 80s, I actually prefer Parade, Purple Rain and Lovesexy.

Ooh yes, they are great albums but for depth and diversity of styles I still think Sign o the Times was one I would recommend to non Prince fans if I was trying to get them interested in following him. It's got a certain depth of Rock, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Pop, Balladry and awesomeness that excels the others. That said, I love all of the albums you mentioned and couldn't live without them β€οΈ

Sott feels like a big meal though The other albums are easier to listen to

I prefer the musical arrangements on the movie version of SOTT. Forever in my life movie version >>>
Same goes with The Cross. [Edited 8/12/23 10:00am]

you're preference is wrong.... Seriously, though. Those three albums are also still some of the best albums ever.

I personally consider the SOTT movie his absolute peak.

yep, absolutely. | |

Yep better than Purple Rain. I am shocked it wasn't well received when it came out.

Aye, you're probably right. My first introduction to Prince was hearing When Doves Cry, 1999, Little Red Corvette and Let's Go Crazy in 1984. I didn't commit to an album until Around the World in a Day a year later. I quickly picked up the previous albums and I've been on the purple train ever since! Funny, because your comments reminded me that Sign O The Times was so immense that I needed a couple of listens before I realised it for the masterpiece it is. I thought it sounded a bit minimalist on my first listen, as I recall. So your point is a good one π πβοΈβ€οΈ
