Looks just as awful as it does when it's open.

What about a joint DIRTY MIND + CONTROVERSY "RUDE BOY" Super Deluxe with...
Full remasters of both albums...
Full remasters of all b-sides for both albums...
All the relevant unreleased Vault material for both albums...
A remaster of the 2nd Coming Documentary...and
Two soundbaord recordings from shows for both supporting tours???
I’m curious as to why people keep insisting on combining Dirty Mind and Controversy when it comes to a future SDE. Combining them would be like trying to combine Purple Rain and ATWIAD… Here’s to hoping that the estate releases an SDE for each album! [Edited 5/1/23 19:35pm] [Edited 5/1/23 19:35pm]
If this is being considered I would imagine it's because there aren't enough unreleased things to flesh out a full-on SDE for each record. |

I'd love to have separate SDEs for each album but at this point,I will take whatever they give us if Dirty Mind must be paired with Controversy, then so be it. |

That's how I feel. Ideally, of course each album should have it's own release. But at this point, I'll take whatever they give me. I'm impatient and not getting any younger.

To be fair, he did explicitly say that new music is coming in 2023 and 2024 (and beyond), so we're definitely getting something by the end of this year. Whether or not it'll be worth the long wait is another story, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised |

Assuming they actually are combining albums, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Surely more music is better? It's also possible that there just isn't enough outtakes for either album to justify a SDE so they probably feel that by combining the albums into one package, that gives fans more to look forward to. |

there's enough for every single album to have its own. even just the stuff we know, with most albums there's enough, and that's not factoring in what we don't know - which is surely a lot. |

I am indeed a dumbass who knows nothing but so are the people saying we need to combine SDE's due to lack of content when we know factually this does not have to be the case for the majority of his albums! |

Ok but even if there are enough outtakes for each to be given its own super deluxe edition, I still don't really see the problem with having them combined into one release. Surely it's better to get 200 unreleased songs than 100? The more the better. |

Agreed.
Especially if we have to wait 2+ years beetween every release. I'd like to have them all before i'm dead.
In a perfect world, i'd like to have a SDE for each album and have them released every 6 months but will this ever happen ? No way. So yes indeed, the more the better. [Edited 5/11/23 2:23am] |

He seems to have recorded 100+ songs with 3rd Eye Girl alone over those last 3-4 years, so I've indeed been hoping that somehow we would get a box with like 100 songs to give us a bulk of new material to absorb while we wait for them to curate SDE releases of the classic albums.
I mean, it's not like we're going to see any reissues of PlectrumElectrum or the HNR albums and such anytime soon. But that material is very interesting to me and I would love to be able to listen to it. Imagine getting your hands on 100+ new songs from prince n the band and just stuff prince worked on solo. any odds and ends from between 2010 and 2016 that wasn't intended for any album in particular.

Guys. It's not additive. If they're combining sets that means they have a more-or-less fixed number of vault tracks they're aiming for and stuff will be cut from both albums as a result. [Edited 5/11/23 4:55am] |

As someone who is a huge fan of his later work, I'd be willing to pay top dollar for a box set of unreleased music from Musicology to Phase Two. |

As you rightly said, it's very unlikely that they're going to be doing deluxe editions for these later albums. And there are potentially hundreds of unreleased songs recorded for these. So I'd actually love to know what the estate's plans are for these recordings. |

*If* they're going to combine Diamonds and Pearl's and Love Symbol, maybe it's because with Purple Rain turning 40 next year, they're going to milk that cash cow again, so 2 SDE releases this year will be to appease the ones who'll be complaining next year about yet another Purple Rain release. Just a thought |
